Wind Chimes in a Morning Forest

Outside of Askov, Minnesota.

We just returned from a trip to Northern Minnesota.
We stayed at the home of some of my wife's relatives (who were out of town). It was a beautiful home set in the North woods. In the trees around the home many wind chimes were hanging off the branches. We would rise and fall asleep to the gentle sound of the chimes.

Tough and exciting time we are having here. The trip was to purchase our new house .. which we did ... in Duluth (a small port city along Lake Superior). So through the next month we will be moving up to Northern Minnesota. So I am afraid my TE contact will be limited for another month or so.

Between the woods .. the 10,000 lakes Minnesota is famous for .. let alone Lake Superior (the largest freshwater lake in the world by surface area), Duluth (being the Westernmost deep water port of the Atlantic Ocean) ... I should have more photographic opportunities than I can conquer.

The North Woods are a broad region of Northern Minnesota, Wisconsin, & Michigan .. and on into New England and Southern Ontario Canada. It is part of the Laurentian Mixed Forest and serves as a transition between the Boreal forest to the North and the "Big Woods" to the South .. It has areas of both broadleaf and conifer forest cover.

Hello again John,
une photo qui met bien en évidence cet instrument qui délivre de si jolis sons. Une profondeur de champ diminuée qui met bien le focus sur le sujet principal.
Regards.

Hi John,
Good to see you back. This is a very interesting shot of the Northern pines mixed with the hardwoods trees. Excellent details and sharpness to this look towards the heavens.
Regards, Tom

Hi John,
long time since your last post. The chosen view to the chimes is well planned with the focussing like a portrait, low POV and looking against the trunk. But also the framing helps to enjoy this one.
Lieben Gruss, Ulf

Hi John,
the very nice light and the angle you used here make it interesting and nice.
Cheers

I see you have just posted a photo of your new region. I like the subject and the format. The blurred background works very well here. Just a pitty we cannnot hear the sound:)
Hope you're all ok and happy with the change because moving means lots of work.

Welcome back and nice to see you here. Hope life is running as you want.

It must be great pleasure listen melodies in forest. Naturally splendid angle of view with pine trees. Soft focused part creates beautiful background with yellow leafs and blue sky. Wonderful, congratulations.

Hello John,

We see each other back when you again time have for TE.
What an idea for a wind chimes hanging in the tree, this must make a lot sound when the wind play between the branches.
Very well composition and nice colours too, good presentation.

Have a nice weekend,
John.

Good to see a new post from you John, although reading your note it seems like a fleeting visit. Good luck with the move.
The morning light is casting a wonderful glow on the scene. Your low POV works very well to give an impression of the height of the trees. The wind chimes are a lovely surprise. Well done
Kath

Hello John,

Hi John, this is a different kind of shot for you, but you have very nicely pulled in your sky and trees. I don't know a lot about Duluth so I'll be looking forward to your new scenes of this area. Everything I read here sounds very good.

Thanks, and take care, see you down the road once you get settled, John

Hi, John,
this is a lovely shot! I love the view looking up and the light coming in at an angle catching the tubes of the windchime. That must be such a peaceful place. I wish you all the best on your move (which is ALWAYS a pain) and looking forward to your shots from "Frostbite Falls".. :)) Take good care and warmest wishes,
Shelly

Hi John,
Wind chimes in a pine tree... It sounds a good idea... I wonder what the birds think about that competition. :-)
Beautiful POV and light, perfect DOF. I like it very much.

Hello John
I can almost hear the chimes ring...like how you framed this shot, close to the tree trunk, with the chimes parallel to the frame. Excellent use of shallow DOF to bring out the chimes clearly against the BG. Beautiful!
best Regards
