Shoreline Hidden in Fog at Sunrise
Boulder Lake
North of Duluth, Minnesota

This image is taken a short while after my previous post. I had arrived at Island Lake before dawn to set up and await the sunrise ... only to have the whole area enveloped by this thick cloud .. so finally I gave up and raced up the road a few minutes to Boulder Lake .. but to no avail .. the whole area was draped in thick fog ... this was shot a few minutes after sunrise. At the same location as this image

Boulder Lake is a partially man made lake. In 1919 a dam on Otter Creek merged three existing smaller lakes into Boulder Lake. The lake contains 27 miles of shoreline 98% of which is undeveloped. The area is protected by the Boulder Land Management Area (BLMA) and contains a great variety of wildlife including moose, wolves, eagles, and osprey. The shoreline also hosts the Boulder Lake Environmental Learning Center which hosts a large number of programs throughout the year.

As with your previous misty post, you have captured an amazing misty atmosphere, this time enhanced by the colours of sunrise. Again it seems as if the island is floating in space. The symmetry is very satisfying; even the changing colours are reflected beautifully.

This is a beautiful golden moment with a fine reflection. The reflection adds depth and balance for the scene. The mist adds a sense of mystery to the shot.

I've always had a soft spot for almost abstract reflections, I find them calming and meditative. here the fog adds to the mood, I like a lot the dream-like effect emphasised by the golden colours. beautiful scene, and you have captured it very well, I'know that fog often creates a challenge.

A lovely misty morning, you really have to be up early, to catch something like this, and even then it`s not a certainty.
The sight is beautiful with the suns rays penetrating the thick veil. The nature is equally pristine, I take it. I guess it`s still much too early for swimming up there, but the notion itself is exciting.

Meanwhile I had a look at your gallery, there are many nice and moody pictures and - I have to admit - I did not know which one to select. Finally I clicked this one, which is the one which will be difficult to see in South East Asia where I live. It certainly will not be fog but haze what is awful. The mood and golden color hues I like a lot. Then there is this soft reflection in the water, it's like a fairytale. Also your note is well written and informative. The fog again...the dreamy mood, the colour this time, a muted shade of the sunrise colours. Love the mist rising over the water and how the horizon melts away with a fine transition of colours. Fine shot!

The fog creates a mysterious atmosphere, and the camera records the mood well!
The calm water reflects well and the view is presented in a fine balanced composition...
