Dawn at Island Lake North of Duluth, Minnesota
A new day ... hopefully a new day to kick myself into a new start at what has been one of my favorite places on the internet.
Minnesota is known as the land of 10,000 lakes .. actually there are a couple thousand more than that in the state.
In the last year one of my favorite of these lakes has become Island Lake .. a fairly large lake a bit north of the city (not surprisingly Island Lake is sprinkled with small picturesque forested islands) .
The road crosses Island lake with a small bridge at a narrow point near the center of this relatively large lake. The bridge is a favorite of fishermen. The sides of the road are often crowded with the parked cars of the fisherman who stand on the bridge. The bridge has also become a favorite shooting location of mine.
Sunrise comes early enough (about 5:15) these days that the lake is often near empty for dawn .. on still mornings the lake is a beautiful mirror of the islands and and the lake and the surrounding forests and bogs are sure to be draped in mist and fog ... hopefully not too thickly.
This image of a new day is dedicated with all my thoughts to Atousa Taghavi (Atousa).

Hello John -
An attractive image I must say. At first I was just a bit put off by the strong golden color of the image, but then it kind of grows on you. Well done!
Hope the mosquito's don't get too bad.
Thank you for sharing.

Hi John!
Nice to read from you and see new pictures! I often looked whether "jmcl" was active again ...
There has been a lot of trouble here on TE and many good friends left the site.
Well, your photo fits very well to the new but not better TE. It's somehow hope giving and wonderful optimistic. A new begin...
I also like your dedication here - because what happens over there in Iran nearly is incredible ...
Let me say "welcome back"! ;-)
All the best to you!

Hello John,
How nice to see you back. My activity on TE has been severely curtailed by other pressing issues as well, but I've submitted a few images anyway. I love this shot of the sun and its 'twin,' a fireball 93,000,000 miles away, letting us all know who is boss! I had no idea that the Canon 5D could shoot with a lightning fast shutter speed of 1/8000 second. But the result is excellent.

Bonjour John,
une photo qui me déçoit beaucoup comparée à certains chefs d'oeuvre qui peuplent ta galerie. Un jeu de lumière un peu limité, mais le spectacle à l'oeil nu devait être fantastique pourtant.
Regards.
Daniel.

Hello John,
Nice to see you back. Unusual yellow but still nice to look at. I like the way you use the long lens for this capture ... something I haven't done before on similar lens for landscape. Regards. Take care. Latiff.

Hi John,
It's a pleasure to see you back with this amazing sunrise, a simple compo, but very achieved. The light, colour and fog are fabulous and produce an unique atmosphere. It's intriguing how the reflection is a rectangle.
I like the message of hope on this dedicatory to the sad things that are happening in Atousa's country. She emailed me saying that everything is alright with her and her family despite the hard times they are living.
I wish everything is OK with you and your family.
Regards,
José

Hi John,
A gorgeous photo of this sunrise. The golden, cloudless sky is beautiful and it's so nicely reflected in the calm water. Such a wonderful, peaceful, atmosphere you have captured here. Congratulations!

Dear John
Though, in my humble opinion, this is not as eye catching & melodious as your next post, but this is beautiful alright on a stand alone. The sun & the reflection separated by the trees and the horizon & the mist rising up makes this almost like a painting!
Best regards
Angshu
Hope Andrew is doing fine!
