Observed at the Hyland Lake Park Reserve Cross Country Ski Chalet, this serious skier (with his skis parked around the corner) is getting ready to ski the 10.8 kilometers of cross-country ski trails which includes a 4.5K lighted loop for evening skiing. The sun goes down early here, well before 5 pm. This 1000 acre park in the middle of the city of Bloomington also has 2 miles of snowshoe trails, a lighted sledding hill, a downhill ski area (just a hill, no mountains here) and a ski jump. It's almost more popular in winter than it is in summer.
ISO 100, focal length 12.1, cropped to remove distraction, framed, no other changes, it's as it came from the camera. |

The one thing I don't like about this is the tilt - otherwise such a lovely moment photographed so subtly and well - really a very nice and accomplished take on this play of light and shadow.
best wishes Kev
