Photographer’s Note

Hello All

This Lighthouse located in Port Huron Michigan was very hard to take images of. It is surounded by chainlink fence and protected by the Coast Guard. So my image is very simple. I used the evening hours to obtain the shadow. Port Huron is at opening to thr river that leads to Lake Erie to the south.

A view of the lighthouse reduced to its simplest contents indeed, but what a fantastic play of light and shadows against a dark sky. Clear and sharp and the decaying paint gives a special effect.

Nice shot of this great lighthouse. Your composition is great giving us a good closeup view of the tower. I wish you could have included the full tower but this is great. The red top provides nice contrast for the weathered white tower. The wispy clouds compliments the tower beautifully. The lighting and colors are fine as is the sharpness and detail.

I know how frustrating it is when you want to photograph something, and its protected by a chain link fence!
The end result here is great...the amount of detail is excellent, as we can easily see the patches in great definition down the lighthouse.
The whispy clouds add a pleasant element, as does the contrasting red top.
