Photographer’s Note
While driving under the Mackinaw bridge to the upper peninsula of Michigan, I took this picture. The original picture you could pretty much count every single rivet on the bridge.
The Mackinaw bridge is the currently the third longest suspension bridge in the world. The bridge opened to traffic on November 1, 1957.
It's total length is (five miles) 26,372 Ft. or 8,038 Meters. It's height above the water on the main towers is 552 Ft or 168.25 Meters.
The Mackinaw bridge was featured on Dirty Jobs. (Just a little tidbit.)
