Being someone who finds plane travel too mundane and so 20th century I decided to travel from Detroit to Rome the 21st century way in the light tunnel.
You see, you enter this long illuminated tunnel filled with soothing chords and tones. You can go first class on a moving walkway or you can go standard class on your own power. As you move through the the sounds and colors change in gentle and soft patterns creating a psychedelic atmosphere of total relaxation.
Slowly you make your way through passing people traveling in the opposite direction through this wormhole type structure and then you suddenly find yourself at the opposite end, your destination.
Up the escalator you quickly climb, excited that your entire 8000 kilometer trip took only a few minutes. At the top you look around and you're finally there... You're in the next terminal!
But it is Romulus so does it kind of count as Rome? No, not really.
Ok, so you only travelled a quarter mile or so beneath the tarmac from one terminal to another. And really you didn't even need to because the international flights are all in the terminal you just left.
So you do the trip again, this time first class on the moving walkway and before you know it you're standing at the fountain at the origin and walking to a gate for a long and mundane flight from Detroit to Amsterdam and on to Rome. The hope you'd be at your destination in a few minutes is finally replaced by the reality that you have another 12 hours.
So you sit down at the gate and watch on the large screen television CNN repeatedly showing newly released video footage of American Airlines Flight 77 being crashed into the Pentagon four and a half years earlier. And you start to get butterflies in your stomach as you wait to board your flight.
For more views of the light tunnel you can see photos of it in other colors here.

Love tyhe colours you capotured here Paul, perhaps the exposure is a little too long, but a pleasant enough image nonetheless.

Very interesting image, I must visit this sometime.. Great colours and POV although perhaps the photo is a little grainy. Overall, very nice shot. Also I love your note about this photograph, your writing is great!

I thought you had play with the original colors of the photo (changing curves or so) to get this psichodelic effect but after seeing the other pictures it seems that this place really exists. Congratulations for the great colors you captured and for your imaginative and funny note.
You do not tell us that you used tripod, so the picture is not very blurred for this long exposition. A little grainy is it. I have tried to reduce some noise to post a WS but without success.

Nice to see you again, Paul, and a cool photo you bring here. Good deep perspective along the light-flooded tunnel, and a psychedelic color arrangement to boot. Lovely graphical impact, too. The only thing I wish for is that you had waited 2-3 more seconds, to have the guy at the left and his reflection on the shiny floor entirely in the frame. Good notes, too.

Very nice shot. Great colours. I probably would have composed it a little more to the left so the man was completely in the frame.

Hi Paul, wellcome back, very nice to see you posting again. I dig this one with its fascinating colours and paralax view. The strong lights at the end of the tunnel are of course nicely evocative. It's a lovely graphism and I like the note too. The part about the CNN news made me remember the time I was reading a book about the devlopment of the 747 (Wide Body by Clive Irving) on my way to Jakarta in a 747-400 of Lufthansa. In the middle of a very severe turbulence I got to the passage about the first swept wing aircraft, describing fatal 'Dutch rolls' and the odd occurence of wing separation.
Have a fine 2nd part of the week,

Hey, Paul, what psychodelic colors! Great off-center perspective. I like the somewhat blurred image, adds to the eerie atmosphere.

wooow! So cool colours, impressive place!
Good low light management, but some noise appeared.
Anyway, great job!

Cool, cool photo. The lines in the ceilings and the moving walkway draws interesing lines in the photo. Also the light in the far end of the tunnel(?) indicates the start/end of the trip. Interesting treatment of the colours as well.

Interesting image colour-wise, Paul.
These illumination must affect one's
mind while walking through the tunnel!
Btw, I was browsing for some pics of
yours from the past... of fires &
firefighters but couldn't find any in
your gallery... have you removed them?
