Photographer’s Note
This is the old boathouse of Henry Ford, again. I previously posted a very late winter view. Today it is not connected to the river anymore. And as you can see here the water is drained. The water in the winter shot was just from snowmelt. I also have a photo that I think is the backdoor entrance to this, though I'm not certain. I have to look around a bit more. It's in about the right spot, just off to the right of this photo on the other side of the hill.
Henry Ford spent lavishly on his estate. Originally the total for his mansion was not to exceed 250.000 dollars. By the time the mansion was finished it had ballooned to 1.875.000 dollars. Interior decorating cost 175.000 dollars. And finally landscaping cost another 370.000 dollars for a total of over 2.4 million dollars. Quite a price in 1916 when you could buy a modest home for 5.000 dollars or one of Ford's Model Ts for about 400 dollars.

This photo said to me something *, Paul. The note mentions it. The recording in Spring is more smiling, flowers add of the gaiety to the composition.
The note is always very interesting Paul.
Thank you. Seen well.

Hi Paul. I liked your winter posting of this shot, but I like this one even more. Great details and colours. The masonry with it long and slender stones is really special and it seems if hardly any mortar is used. Is there a story to this? Fine work, Paul

A nice reunion with the boathouse, Paul. I like this much more, not only for the green and flowers surrounding the entrance/exit. You are a bit closer and the light is better, making the texture and building technique more visible. The doorway to the right make me curious. As alway an excellent and intriguing note. Well done!
This estate equals 6000 Ford Ts - remarkable!

Very interesting note. The light onthis one is better than the previous. Looks a bit like the place where Fredo Corleone began his last voyage. Out of points today

I was looking through some of your photos and this one for some reason stood out. It reminds me of those odd secret places in PC games like "Myst". Something mysterious lurking behind the doors and stone. Deserted, maybe.... branches hiding the one open passageway on the right so one can't be sure what will be found upon investigation. I like it!
