my cousin likes to hunt. I went with him a couple times and before he shoots the turkey with his 12 guage I shoot them with my canon.
if the weather is nice it isnt so bad just sitting in a blind for several hours. wispering back and forth and trying not to laugh and smoking cigarettes (well i smoke) and listening to all the things going on around you.
its kinda strange but being out in nature just sitting there is kinda nosy actually all the birds, owls, turkeys, and buzzing bugfs all together make for a bit of noise.
anyways. its turkey season in the US now opened about a week ago and it lasts for 5 weeks. there are two seasons the other beginning in october. you have to not only buy a hunting licence but you have to but what are like tickets. ther is a limit of how many turkeys you can shoot in a season and i think you can shoot two. not sure but my cousin had shot one last week and so this week he was trying to get his second one. this bird made it home for the night. you are not allowed to shoot female turkeys only males. how can you tell a male? it has a beard. yes male turkeys have beards. and they are much bigger.
we went home empty handed this day. |

I didn't know that turkeys could be kinda beautiful. You caught a nice pose here. The light is good with typical Boof post-processing. I like the DOF and that there's a band of grass that's sharp through the whole picture, it makes a good composition.

Nice DOF. When I first saw the pic, I thought, 'Hmm, thanks giving just went by, I wonder if thats the Turkey he ate :-)'
Glad you got a good shot of the turkey even though your cousin didnt.
It was very nicely taken.
