Photographer’s Note
The Iowa caucuses kicked off the 2008 U.S. presidential election for both parties. Seen here is the scene at a caucus on the Drake University campus, which, being full of students, went heavily in favor of Barack Obama.
This nameless precinct captain embodies the feeling of excitement at the caucus, regardless which candidate he's decked out for. People came out in record numbers in Iowa (especially young people), a trend that has continued through other nominating contests.
