Finally I am returning to my Iowa trip photos and to start off I'll show my destination.

This is Clear Lake, nearly from one end to another, looking toward the south shore. The lake measures some 7 miles by 2.5 miles and is entirely spring fed, meaning no rivers feed this lake. It's surface area is 5.5 square miles and is about 100 feet above the surrounding plains. It was formed 14,000 years ago through glacial action. It was first surveyed in 1832 and the first settlement was started in 1851 while the city of Clear Lake was laid out in 1856.

Today the lake is a major recreation area in north/central Iowa and south/central Minnesota. The north shore is anchored by Clear Lake in the east and smaller Ventura in the west. The North Shore Avenue is lined with a mixture of older, smaller, homes and new, large, homes as well as parks, a golf course and camps, while the south shore is more lightly developed.

Just over the south shore, on the opposite side of the lake here, is the Cerro Gordo Wind Farm.

So I hope you enjoy this large post panorama (a stitch of 7 images) of the lake in early evening after most of the jet skiers and boaters have gone in for supper.

Boy, does this remind me of my childhood, much of which was spent in Upper Midwest lakes very much like this one. The panorama is breathtaking, despite how ordinary the scene it. This is just a lake, some boats, trees lining the shore and flat land as far as the eye can see. I imagine it was pleasantly warm on June 25.

The colors and details are rendered very nicely. You chose a gorgeous day with a spectacular sky for your photographic adventure. I notice a few artifacts at a what I imagine are intersections of individual images. Frankly, I'm amazed there is software that can do a credible job of this at all. And I imagine working with anomalies that arise is a very time consuming task. Despite those unlikely bends and angles, this is a breathtaking panorama. Thanks Paul.

A very great panoramic Paul, very well done, congratulations!

Très belle réalisation Paul, un formidable travail effectué. Bravo.

very good work here, I like the composition and also the dark colours are interesting too, good work here

Well done

This view with which you've presented us is really grand. It was well worth the wait to compose the panorama without the boaters and jet skiers. This photo makes me feel as though I am sitting on the dock.

You did this with a tripod? The camera was practicaly horizontal because just a slight curvature can be seen on the horizon, that means this is a very good and patient work. A very nice place well captured. I like the reflections, specially those of the red pier on the water. The sky is also well captured, with some clouds for it to look not empty.

you captured it. I'm from Minnesota and my father lives on a lake that looks just like this one. It brings me back! Nice shot.

A genuinely wonderful sight, Paul. A beautiful panorama in which one of the treats is that the piers all appear to be oriented towards a concentric point in the middle. Wonderful colors and light, great clouds to top this serene view, and good stitching work with seven (!) photos. Very good jobs, thanks for sharing and embarking on this effort.

Lovely lake shot, Paul, and a marvelous panorama work again. This is so beautiful and so peaceful and so... different! A large lake entirely spring fed and a hundred feet above the surrounding plains!! But most of all - the way the boats are kept "overnight" - elevated with a little roof! Why? It's like they can't tolerate water! I've never seen anything like it and it amuses me. This is certainly learning about the world... ;o) Your picture is great, well composed and an almost 180° delicate stitching work with no visible joints. Very well done!

What a wonderful panoramic view, with so much sharpness and clarity. I like your composition very much, I almost feel I'm THERE, participating in the scenery. The sky wonderful, as the lighting, you choosed the appropriate moment to shot. Excellent stiching work, never obvious, not at shutter release nor at assembly time, even if a software is partially doing the job. Fine shot, luminous, colorful and splendid rendered. Congratulations Paul!

Hi Paul, I like this well executed pano very much! It provides us with a very sharp and colurfull view. The fact that all the recreants have left for supper makes this a very tranquile pic - the lake holding it's breath for activities to return. The sky looks fantastic and a special elements is formed by the tent-roofs above some boats. Great job!

A great job, here Paul. The depth is very good and colours wonderful. The two gangways in foreground lead my eyes in a beautiful expanse of water. The human absence adds the sensation of a peaceful place.
