[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Newspapers and magazines like this kind of batting shot best, with the ball right on the bat. It's not that easy to do even with a quick motor drive since the ball is traveling over 80 miles per hour and only stays in the frame for a split second. I normally try to stay away from shots like this but not because it's difficult but because when shooting youth sports all the kids' moms want to see their kids' faces and when the batter is using proper technique his head is down. For the moms I normally wait until the ball has been hit and go for the follow-through shot when the player's head is up.

The Colt World Series takes place each summer in Lafayette, Indiana and plays host to 10 teams from as far away as Europe and as near as Lafayette. This year Puerto Rico won the championship.

Ciao Grgory,
nice decisive moment shot ,
perfect control and good light ,
well done
Giorgio

Hi Gregory,

Good action shot! I like the posture of this guy taking his bat. Excellent colors, light and sharpness.

Well done
leonor

Excellent timing and super sharp. The shallow depth of field really make the batter stand out and the super fast shutter froze the motion perfectly, I can even read mizuno on the hands. Wait, I think I can count all 108 stitches on that ball too!!

Excellent shot!

Hello Gregory!
Excellent action! You got it perfectly! Excellent quality, sharpness, colours, contrast, everything is nice here! But the subject is really the great point! Well done!
Regards,
Zeca

All too very cool, Gregory! What a shot. What a catch. What a hit! It's perfect. The kind of shot I dream of. Lighting, timimg, bokeh... ALL perfect. AND beautiful color. This one is a 10!! WOW!! In awe,
Shelly

Hi Gregory,

I like the note on pleasing the moms with the face-up shots. Haha, funny. The shot you do not want to have, since it means you missed the impact shot, is actually the one that all moms want. I like the little story to your shot!

Very well caught moment. Good sharpness and background blur. I'm surprised to see how far backward he is hanging in his pose. I'd imagine he would fall down backwards if he didn't have the swing in his arms!

Greetings, Dennis

Hi,
Right on the button with this one, even arranged the bat logo the right way up! Good background blur demonstrating the technique well. Thanks.
Dougie.
