Under the shade of Lincoln Hall's trees - looking towards historic Foellinger Auditorium. Every year many speakers deliver their addresses here, and last year - after Illinois lost to North Carolina in the NCAA BB championship - this is where thousands of students congregated mixing celebration, sadness and denial... and started setting things on fire. I wish I had a camera with me that night.
Different prairie grasses are a common landscaping theme around campus. Illinois used to be almost completely covered with prairies. In some areas, if a person walks ahead of you just a few paces - you cannot see them anymore because of the height of the grasses. Some of them can grow upwards to 10-12 feet.
