I still have photos from Europe to sort through, and I have yet to really even start sorting through my photos from Chicago!
I feel so far behind. So I thought i'd pick out just one or two Chicago shots for now just to mix things up a bit.
We loved loved loved Chicago!
I would highly recommend it to anybody.
Even though Chicago is a concrete jungle of high rises similar to New York City, it has such a quite feel about it. There are several parks in the city, open spaces, places where you can easily sit down on the grass and have lunch in the sunshine, the city layout is so easy to navigate, getting to point A to point B is just a few minutes of walking, the architecture is fantastic, what more could I say!?
This photo here is an example of that. Right in the heart of the city is a huge water park. We went here every day just because its so fun to photograph the children at play.
We thought it would be fun to visit at blue hour as well, and we're glad we did!
Here I captured the children chasing each other as they walked around the tall water fountain. Water is spraying down upon them. It must have been very refreshing as it was really hot and muggy, even in the evening hours.
Hope you like this strange but fun Blue Hour shot taken at the water park!
thanks for looking

I agree, Chicago is a great city to wander round and photograph and it has a great art gallery. A nicely exposed night time composition with a very pleasant mood. Excellent colours and detailing.

This is a very cool shot and your timing of the blue hour has made it stand out beautifully in the gallery page. What an unusual water feature, it's so tall! Capturing the kids playing in the spray has really added an excellent sense of fun and excitement. You've made the fountain look like one of the many sky scraper you mentioned. Nice one!

This is one of my favourite places in Chicago. I haven't seen this at blue hour and wished I had. I love the way the people are running around the base of the glass wall (I think they are glass bricks). Exciting capture - love it!
Kind Regards, Ann

Fountain-tower lit and blue, well captured and those kids playing around added charm to the scene.
Fine camera settings, the blue-tower mingle with the scrapers around, the night shot superbly managed.

bellissimo scatto, i palazzi sono molto belli e la presenza delle persone che giocano è determinante per dare alla foto un'atmosfera diversa, molto più allegra e spensierata.

A very unusual water feature, mimicking Chicago's skyscrapers, with colorful blue lighting, and being enjoyed by a parade of soaking patrons.
Looks like a fine way to cool off during the Chicago summertime.

this place looks amazing and obviously much fun too. I love this blue hour image it has a real zing about it and as usual is an immaculate execution and presentation.
On my recent visit to the London Olympic Park it was a rare warm day and lots of children were playing in the fountains there. I only walked past with my camera around my neck, but was still accosted by a security guard who warned me about taking photographs of the children. One fellow photographer there had all his images viewed on his camera just to make sure he had not taken any of the kids. What sort of world are we living in now!! - Crazy!!
Have a great weekend - B.

very nice the blue hour shot with the mouve light to spread all over the building and the presentation of the children as they walked around the tall water fountain refreshing from it.Excellent presentation with the quality to be unique.
PS The cave is very hight so all the boat was enter in it with the water to not very deep.Other times with a more calm weather, a swimm from the most of the tourists was the 'must' of the day.

Awesome capture of this blue lighted building during the blue hour. I like perspective and the inclusion to the children to provide scale. Good pov and nice details. Well done, tfs.
I haven't seen the Canadian Snowbirds and I wish could but the closest they will get to me is on Sept. 27 & 28 air show in Redding, California. And I'm already going to San Diego for the Miramar Air show on Oct. 3.

the human presence is essential to this shot, giving life to it in th eblue world!

Hi Craig, I'm glad to meet a 'macjake blue' today as I was away from such beautiful images for a really long time, I'm happy to be back. This is a wonderful shot, The moment is so charming and so vivid, the colours are beautiful and your great pov created that perfect shot. Thanks for sharing and for your note.
PS. I can understand from your gallery that you visited Turkey when I was away from TE, hope you had good time here. :)

When nightfalls, it turns the dull modern concrete jungle into a fairyland, full of Happy glittering light and colours just screaming for attention!!
Great shot, Congrats
kasianowak (5952) 2014-08-30 1:45
Fantastic blue hour shot, it was obviously a very good decision to visit at that time.
At first sight this fountain looks like a strange office block. :-)
The running kids really make it, I especially like the silhouetted one on the far left. S/he looks hesitant, I wonder what they saw there in the water...
Have a great weekend
mayjayne (3431) 2014-08-30 2:27
Amazing blue hour shot - I love the vibrant feel from the way you have composed the shot !
worldcitizen (6801) 2014-08-31 13:38
Hello again Craig,
From the thumbnail I thought this was a building, and then I opened it and...surprise! :-) I've seen this fountain before here on TE, but never from this POV. The blue hour makes it even more dramatic, with the children illuminated from below, and the color of the fountain matching the color of the sky. It's a great scene!
tyro (20018) 2014-09-01 8:27
I'm just thinking that a year or two ago we could have seen an image of this place from you - and it would have been technically perfect - but it would have been totally devoid of any shape or form of human life. Do you think it was your trip to Cuba that changed all that, so that we now see so many pictures from you which include people?
This is a fantastic shot - technically perfect as always - but those colourfully dressed youngsters running through the lights around the base of this tall structure really do bring the whole image to life brilliantly.
Lovely light and colours and exceptional details and clarity too.

Don't worry I was in Europe last September and still haven't sorted out all my photos :) We will excuse you.
This is a corker and a shot that I reckon was really difficult to get right. The light was extremely challenging, and you did so well in not blowing out the spotlights below and the lighter parts of the illuminated building. This really is a Craigarama photo. I can see why you fell in love with Chicago, you must have felt like a kid in a lolly shop! Excellent vertical cut, superb sharpness and lovely colours. Nice that you're mixing up your photos at the moment, some from Europe, Sth America and USA.
Cheers, have a great day

Hello dear friend
here we have a difficult shot taken during blue hour
and strange enough with the children chasing each other

adores (36183) 2014-09-04 12:19
That's a fantastic water fountain! I like it a lot in the blue hour, the lights inside creates a very nice effect and the children playing around add so much. Seems they are playing some sort of dance:)! I like the colours!
