Photographer’s Note

I took this picture at half-time of an Illinois basketball game last year. Chief Illiniwek, who was the symbol at the University of Illinois from 1926-2007, would perform a dance at the half time of basketball, volleyball, and football games.

This dance is done to the Three-in-One; a combination of three U of I schools songs. This picture was taken during the second part of the 3in1, the alma mater. At basketball games students would surround the court while Chief Illiniwek did the performance.

Assembly Hall is a hard place to take pictures. The lighting is terrible for photography because, other than the court, the hall is lit by lights reflecting off the ceiling.

This is a cool view because normally all pictures of the chief look at him from his front side.
