A visit to our local Safari-Zoo, 6km from home, on a beautiful Saturday morning.
A Giraffe family feeding, something we have to travel very far abroad to see from such a proximity. Within minutes there was not a single leaf left on the branches... One WS attached with a close-up, second WS with another sight when feeding them.
This specie is the "Reticulated Giraffe" or Somali-Giraffe, origin in Somali, Africa.

My favourite animal; I find them very graceful. Good capture of this family grazing. Nicely exposed to bring out the colours and patterns in the coats.

I would have imagined that a family of giraffes in a relatively limited area would soon eat every available leaf and twig, but looking closer I get a feeling that fresh branches are brought in daily. I am not so keen on zoos, but giraffes are certainly nice to watch and of course more difficult to see from so close in the savanna. I guess their spots are as individual as the stripes of zebras and the finger prints of humans.

Bonjour, cher Ike,
La famille girafe est au complet, j'aime le "bébé" qui se contente de prendre quelques feuilles situées à sa hauteur.
Le rendu est très bon ainsi que les couleurs.

The branches are framing well the animal. The point of view is showing the details of the giraffes. The good luminosity is giving nice tints to the colours. Have a nice day.

stavo osservando la giornata, sembra di essere in estate, mentre qui siamo tornati in inverno.
Belle le due foto che ci mostri, ma tra le due anche io preferisco questa immagine, il taglio verticale lo preferisco.

These animals are so interesting and always appear so gentle, it must have been a real pleasure to watch and photograph them!
Either of your photographs could have been used for a main post, for it is always interesting to see things up close. However, your w/s was unable to include the quizzical stare of the baby giraffe! Well, I thought at first that it was a quizzical look but it may just have been involved in nibbling the low level leaves!!!
There was no doubt that a vertical format would suit these tall guys!!
You've done a good job showing their heads from many different angles.
Have a good Sunday,

it is a pity they are so menaced in their ancestral home. nice view of this group, the vertical aspect of the compo is interesting.

A freshly taken photo, uploaded on the day it was taken. The little one is the cutest of them all. They all look clean and healthy.

a cute and interesting scene featuring the giraffe family at lunch, the repetition is amusing and the little one is adorable. I like very much your tight composition in a vertical frame, the natural colours look lovely as well. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great evening,

when I think of Israel, Giraffes aren't exactly the first or second thing that comes to my mind haha
Mother nature is amazing, how on earth did these animals evolve with their elongated necks like this!? There's basically nothing else like it in the animal kingdom is there? fun group of photos, especially with the baby giraffe seemingly out of place on the left :) cheers

Again I see lots of eucalyptus trees. The backlight has been well managed and the tight framing works well here. Nice catch of these 5 giraffes. Tfs!

Hello Ike I just read online that a giraffe has seven huge vertebraes and the largest one measures 40cm in adult. So that's why they seem like howling to the moon when feeding. Your family in action looks quite sympathetic; especially the adolescent and the baby learning "not to talk while eating"!

I missed this beauty from your safari to the Tel Aviv Zoo. The composition, colors, and resolution are ideal in this photo, complemented by an engaging note.
Warm Sunday regards,
