My first portrait.
I always wanted to take good portraits, like our friends Claude, Manny and Maciek, but I didn't know how to do it.
Until I saw this girl. A girl and an icecream star.
Tech: partial desaturation.
There is also a color version, as a WS.

wonderful portrait. the sharp focus around the eyes is perfect. i think it would be stronger without the pink, but that's just my taste...however, there does seem to be a bit of color creeping up her nose there.

Oh - and congratulation with the fine result Yitzhak - Very fine and original composition and pose as well - I like the star-mouth and the eye's of your model - I must try to get a portrait some day :-)

Fun shot yitzhak.
The face of the young lady is a bit soft in sharpness, but I really enjoy the constrast between B&W and color. I also think that I would have like to see her whole head in the shot. A very good shot anyway, and it's fun to see that your are trying new things. Keep it up...

Being the first I have to congratulate you. I dont know if I like this kind of B/W-Colour pictures but I´m open-minded person so congratulations from Madrid and keep protraiting (Do this word exist?). Greetings.

Very nice photo as your first portrait!

Beautiful portrait Yitzhak! The idea to desature the entire image excepted the ice cream is excellent. I like a lot this kind of photos and your picture is one of them. The depth of field is also well used.

A great portrait shot, Yitzhak - especially as it's your first. I love the girl's expression. Beautiful eyes. Excellent post processing work - the star shaped ice-cream looks mouth-watering! Well done all round.

Cher Yitzhak ,
Même pour les portraits, vous ne pouvez vous empêcher de mettre votre touche personnelle et c'est tout à votre honneur.
Très originale composition Yitzhak.
Points demain !
Even for portraits, you can not refrain from putting your personal touch and it is everything in your honor.
Very original composition Yitzhak.

It's nice Yitzhak. You have style...you have class. It is an interesting PP.

Nice try Yitzhak - and the good post work is a well choosen 'add-on'..

Fun shot, Yitzhak, and a very "refreshing" attempt at a portrait - very good first result. I like her dark eyes and the interest added by the ice cream. To be quite honest with you, I prefer the color version - the post-work seems a little enforced to me and also seems to put attention to the "wrong" part of the frame .. hope you don't mind my opinion.

Great first portrait, Yitzhak. I´m looking forward to see more portraits from you...
As a detail I like the combination of those dark eyes and the black round areas in the background. Your choice of partial desaturation works very well – so, I prefer this original version.
I think technically there is something wrong in the background – I mean in the pixels...

Fine result Yitzhak! :-)) The partial desaturation works lovely to underly her soft look. I would prefer the colour version a bit more, but this one has it's charm too - with more creative impact. So you never know, just listen to your own senses and do it! ;-)) Very well done indeed!

Very nice portrait and nice idea to make this desaturation exept the icecream star. Well done, Yitzhak!

Avigur ! You shotting faces ? Great !!!!!!
Fantastic composition ! Great face.

Le travail de desaturation met en valeur toute la scene ici en plus d'avoir un joli portrait.
Bon coup d'oeil Yitzhak.

Her eyes really make this image (though I like the popsicle, too!). So here you've captured what perhaps makes a good portrait: interesting expressions and clarity on the eyes. Very nice work. It'll be great to see more portraits from you in the future!

very ncie image, I like the colour you have chisen here, the ps work is very nice, very good work
hdl (6995) 2004-09-24 11:56
First portait? Worked out very fine to my opinion. Nice idea to keep the icecream star in it's original colour and to do the rest in B&W. Furthermore, very beautiful girl with great eyes ;-).
Hanssie (10067) 2004-09-24 14:41
You don't know how to make portraits, I think, I'm not believing it, this one is a nice one, isn't it, do you think ?
Try a few other ones and we all can see, that you can do it ! And I know, you can do it !!
ChrisJ (91292) 2004-09-25 3:00
It looks like a pink star hanging from her nose at 1st glance. But this is an exceptional result for a 1st attempt at a portrait.
smael (2878) 2004-09-25 20:35
I like this postprocessing and the image is quite good. It's like taken from a movie...
You do know how to take a picture, and like other situations...you click when you feel things are right!
Here you managed that pretty well!
guess we'll see more portraits then...?
paido (944) 2004-10-07 0:13
Well done for your first portrait ! The desaturation end-up good... But I'm not sure if the true subject is the Ice cream or the girl... but then again that was probably your intent...
The soft blur around the girl's face fits really well in the composition.
peter1892 (1681) 2005-04-03 15:54
Really good picture! Her eyes make this image really good (for me). And the colour of the ice-cream looks good against the B&W.
veronika (6052) 2007-10-28 7:21
good PP here, partial desaturation that's something what i really like. I have to confess that it is really good work, as it is your first portrait ;)
Jeppo (17635) 2008-01-12 3:02
nice idea to contrast B+W with the coloured ice cream.
I like the sweetness and the naturality of her eyes....a really good portrait!
PS: a friend named Maciek has actually Polish roots, isn't it?
colibriav (2118) 2012-04-17 11:46
Bonito montaje y combinacion entre B/N y el color del dulce de la joven.
Un saludo desde España:
