The Bayon was the last state temple to be built at Angkor, and the only one to be built primarily as a Mahayana Buddhist temple (although various local deities were also worshipped there). It was the centrepiece of Jayavarman VII's building program, and the similarity of the faces on the temple's towers to other statues of the king have led many scholars to the conclusion that the faces are, at least in part, representations of Jayavarman VII (although Avalokitesvara is another possibility).
Under the reign of Jayavarman VIII in the mid-13th century the temple was converted to Hinduism. In later centuries Theravada Buddhism became dominant, before the temple was eventually abandoned to the jungle. Current features which were not part of the original plan include the terrace to the east of the temple, the libraries, the square corners of the inner gallery, and the upper terrace.
This was my favourite temple from the ones I saw.

The photo of this temple is very beautiful. The colors, the light
and clearness are perfect. Moreover the reflection in water is
splendid. A success, cheer. And thank you for the comment.

I love this type of mayanesque architechture, really rough looking, obiously because of erosion, but none the less it is a feature which credits these buildings with an even more original feeling. TFS *the reflection is a super bonus to the picture, probably pushing your lucck for it to be still as well :-)

It's still a dream to visis cambodia one day, and this photo is the reason.
Technaicaly, it is perfect except for the grain. I don't know where the problem started, but one thing you can do is to sharpen more than once, during the rsising process, and after finishing processing the photo. Depending on the program you use, it helps to reduce the white pixels the programms normaly use to increase sharpness.

Nice picture of the Bayon. It is quite difficult to get a nice picture in Cambodia. The light is strong and contrast are difficult to manage. You managed to get a nice one. Congratulation.
Cheers from Antibes.

I love the way your excellent reflection both mirrors and enhance the 'real view;' excellent detail and color.

Beautiful composition with crystal clear mirror like reflections on the water. The ripples on the surface just make a nice distortion that force us to think the water reflection is not the real stuff. Very good use of light at the time of day the picture was taken. The colors and sharpness are very good. I would say details are abundant in this composition. Good lines throughout the picture. Very well done James. I truly like this composition. Cheers from Canada :-)

Wonderful place. Bayon is indeed one of the more beautiful place of Angkor sites. Your picture gives a perfect idea of what it is in real. I really like the reflection in the water.
Best regards, Laurent.
