Pictured here is the ruins of Clonmacnoise, a 6th century early Christian site on the banks of the Shannon river in Co Offaly, Ireland.
The site includes the ruins of a cathedral, seven churches (10th to 13th century) three high crosses, two round towers and the largest collection of early Christian graveslabs in Western Europe.
The site was founded in 545 by St Ciaran, but its largest period of growth was from the 8th to the 12th centuries. During this time, its strategic location on the banks of the river allowed it to propser and its original population of no more than 10 men grew to almost 2000 by the mid 12th century.
Some of the greatest and most beautiful artifacts of early Irish artifacts of irish stone and metal work are associated with the site, including the Cross of the Scriptures and the Clonmacnoise Crozier which is on display at the National Museum of Ireland.

I loved this place when I've been there but I had the same kind of light you had, not the best one to take pictures ! The POV is good anyway and shows us how these old celtic crosses are numerous in Clonmacnoise.

Clonmacnoise eh? Say that 5 times after a few pints :)
You did really well with the difficult lighting, and still produced a photo with good saturation, light and contrast. I can't see your camera settings, but an aperture of between f/9 to f/11 would result in a far sharper image. The photo seems to lose a little sharpness in 64 bit resolution. The subject is fascinating, so uniquely Irish and beautifully composed. Thanks for sharing, have a great weekend.

and being British I have a special spot for old cemeteries. The ruined buildings in the background make this. Great POV in other words
