The world-renowned story of Bonnie Prince Charlie's fight for the British throne gathered momentum at Glenfinnan where he raised the Jacobite standard and rallied his clansmen for battle.
The long reaches of Loch Shiel are veiled by steep mountains, and the rallying there of some 1,200 Highlanders must have been an awe-inspiring sight when the Prince arrived from Loch Nan Uamh on 19 August 1745.
Some 70 years later, the Glenfinnan monument was built by Alexander MacDonald of Glenaladale in memory of all the clansmen who had fought for the cause. The tower is now in the custody of the National Trust for Scotland and a Visitor Centre.

Really wonderful place, with great dimensions and sense of depth. The sharpness is excellent, and the tower in the middle helped create a very nice composition.

Hi again Stephen,
Awesome, just awesome. I bet a 12 x 18 of this one would be tremendous.
The depth and sharpness of this one is spectacular. Hell, the whole photograph is spectacular!
Have a great weekend,

Simply beautiful! What could I say more? Your photos are the easiest to comment on because you don`t give me any reason to say bad words:)
I love it!

I'm having trouble deciding whether I like this one or not, but I guess the fact I'm questioning it suggests I perhaps don't like it all that much.
The square crop is strange given it's clearly such a wide landscape and the composition doesn;t seem to work in this format. The colours, well, they look like a painting, not a photo. Either this is a HDR or you've spent a LONG time post processing to make them look that way for quite an impressive, although perhaps not that real effect. I'd love to see what the original of this actually looked like.
Either way, please don't interpret this as a negative review. In other aspects; the light and perfect sharpness/ depth to the image is impressive.
All the best :)

The light here is perfect and provides the tress with alovely luminous quality. Your compostion is well balanced too with the monumennt offf centre and the path to it leading the eye.

this is another wonderful masterwork coming out of your darkroom. You certainly did you homework in a perfect manner in the field. I appreciate this in a perfect composition with the mountains at each side and the little forest in the foreground framing the tower and the lake in the lower portion. An additional element that adds some great mood is the cloud cluster exactly above the little island. The range of light must have been a real challenge and yet the equilibrium of the dark and light portions is just on spot. I can't see a single sign on OE on the clouds. just a touch away of OE.
Now the darkroom work is just an attribute of what you did in the field. Look at all the hues that you got in the water. Man, that is almost to good to be true. the same also with all the greens in the forground foliage.
The image doesn't look real? It looks like a painting and not like a photograph? And who said that a photograph has to look as a pure documentation of some awesome looking place? Are photographers doomed to be pure documenting technicians? Were enters the art of photography and the individiality of the photographer. Well, I certainly don't have to tell you the answer to all these questions. I just need to look into your exemplary collection and the questions will be easy to be found.
