I apologize that lately I am little at TE,
but I'm the last time looking for a job,
I lost the last one in October (last hired
first fired). Every time I send a cover
letter (much as a salesman for cameras)
later I get to hear (read) that they have
found a more suitable candidate. strange,
because often the job is then open for
I can not say it, but I often perceive
age discrimination, with 43 you are to
So forgive me, that I have other things
on my mind than TE.
About the picture, this is a photo site,
I was nearby Hoorn and I wanted to
photograph fishing nets. One problem:
boring sky. After an hour I decided to
go home. I was in the car and I saw some
clouds. The surface of the clouds was't
big and went towards the spot where I
stood before. I went back, placed quickly
my tripod, picked fast my ND filter
(4 stops) and took some pictures, this
is one of them. Two-three minutes later
the "party" was over. A "party" with
strange colors that I have experienced
three times in my life and can not
explain, a nice gift from Mother Nature.
For the rest I keep it simple.
I hope you like my story ehhhh picture :-)
Canon 5D MarkII, Canon 17-40mm L4,
Velbon Sherpa 750R.
It's a small city (population > 71000)
40 minutes from Amsterdam with a nice
small shoppingcentre and with a very
nice small harbour.
So when you visit the Netherlands,
there is more than only Amsterdam :-).

sorry to hear about your employment problems. Not an easy time for you so I hope things improve. This is an exquisite and wonderfully opportunist image that entrances and looks so serenely tranquil. Love the colours and the effect of the ND filter is mesmerising. As always perfectly executed and presented.
All the best on the job quest.
Enjoy your weekend - Brian.

Ciao e buona serata

I can sympathize with your situation, I have been "downsized" twice in the last three years, and being the same age I also found it difficult to find new work. Best of luck! In regards to this photo...well, what can I say, it's another pristine and splendidly colored image. :) Your patience, instinct and determination have produced a beautiful result and it shines through. For such minimal subject matter, and nothing else other than a water surface, this holds an immediate attraction to the senses. Brilliant!
All the best,
abmdsudi (38822) 2013-03-15 20:46
Hugh slow shutter shot -another of your trademark- filled by the softness of pastel colors, the gorgeous reflections and the soothing clarity that look like a quite other wordly and you have nailed this exposure so superbly. I do like the details and I particularly love the contrasty stretching nets across the water diagonally giving plenty enough depth at the same time holding all the eyes in there as strong focal point while meandering through the pleasant scene. An extremely inviting image and vastly amazing, what a beautiful nature when it turns to something like this, that's very striking. Exquisite stuff indeed! Very well done my friend.
jjcordier (72614) 2013-03-15 22:39
danos (82665) 2013-03-15 23:12
fascinating presentation of this dreamily scenery with the poles and the net to are placed perfect in the frame creating depth and perspective in the scene.I like the variety of the colour tints of the sky as the calmness and the tranquility of the shot.
Have ag ood weekend,Danos

Sorry to hear about your problems but I am sure you will be able to solve the situation. The photo is incredible beautiful with so simple composition and impressive saturation effect. Love it! Very well seen and executed work. Thanks for sharing.
adramad (34911) 2013-03-16 5:52
Fascinating image, delicate colors and great reflexes, cromaticia harmony is wonderful, fantastic the horizon line we see in the distance and a large DOF gives the composition.
Ideal brightness and sharpness.
Very well done. I love it.
Enjoy the weekend.

Hello Robert - A delicate watercolour wash and so very lovely. The nets look as if they have been sketched in by the finest pen. Looking back paid you handsomely! Warm regards and very best wishes for your job search. Rosemary

I wondered where you were...
SENSATIONAL PHOTO - your job should be full time photographer - this image has a wonderful dreamy mood about it - the way you captured the fishing net is fantastic.
The colours & the amazing reflection on the water from the clouds is spectacular.
mkamionka (29153) 2013-03-20 9:30
spectacular photo. The line of the horizon is so narrow almost nonexistent so it seems so dreamy like taken in the clouds. The elements sticking out of the water help to bind it to the Earth. Plus they add a nice diagonal line.
Very well spotted, excellent work!
I am sorry to hear about your problems with the job.
Same happened to me last year. My contract expired and for three months I was unemployed. Being 40, this year 41, I felt already that often I got rejected due to my age.
Employers usually prefer people who are younger to manipulate them easier, to brain wash them etc
I have a job since a year now, changed country again...
I wish you succes in this area, if I was an employer I would definitely employ you based on your photos: so much attention to the detail and at the same time ability to see a big picture.

Stunning photo. I want to be there. I love that you have managed to have a lot of contrast with limited light and a limited colour pallet. Beautifully composed.
I wish to find a job soon and I can understand why I'm unemployed too.
Have a nice evening,
korbee (6615) 2013-03-21 13:58
UlfE (14635) 2013-03-24 11:34
Superb minimalistic shot. Very well-composed and exquisite pastel colours. I really enjoy your note and how you was waiting for the right moment and how you had almost given up when it suddenly turned up. TFS and have a nice Sunday evening!
P.S. Sorry to hear about you job problems. I hope you will get a new one very soon.
kiks (11749) 2013-03-30 11:12
Waylim (24954) 2013-04-03 14:56
Looking at the small thumb nail, it seem there is really not much to the photo. Once open in full view, as I expected to find so much more to it than meet the eyes. I love how the water and the sky mirror each other. The way the water seem to have no surface, making it looks like the pole and the barrier is suspend in space and time. There is a dream like quality to the image. My only minor comment maybe there is too much pink and purple in the sky.
I hope you have found a new job and that it is better than the last one.
fabbs99 (15675) 2013-04-03 21:54
Another classic shot from you. Superb shot with excellent light management.Very attractive capture in great contrasts and colors. Well done.
brianmcc (6005) 2013-04-06 2:31
this picture is stunning. one that i would love to have taken myself. the mood, atmosphere, colours, lighting, composition, technical detail, and perspective all combine to produce this perfect image. and as your title suggests the opportunity to capture this only lasts for moments which again is testimony to your skills as a photographer that you were able to grasp that momentary opportunity.
SWEETFREEDOM (21542) 2013-04-06 4:49
magic moment and colors. great job.

Perfect in its simplicity. With those colours and reflections we don't need anything else. Highly evocative and well composed.

You obtain amazing colors, it seems to be a video game scene
Urs (14082) 2013-04-17 18:29
What you have created here is a symphony of pastel colour hues, a very innovative concept with the reflection and the diagonal positioned poles. Well done

You are really and inspired and inspiring photograph,
i love the simplicity and the calmness of your shots.
This is really and awesome work
The pastel colors and the milky water are amazing here
And the great sharpness on the nets is very important for the construction of the image
A masterpiece indeed
ourania (25508) 2013-05-06 9:35
a beautiful and captivatibg study in colour. The composition you have created is incredibly elegant and discreet offering the stage to the fantastic grading colours that mingle and fade into each other in a mesmerising way. It's also amazing for me how you were able to distinguish the smooth surface of the water from the smooth feel of the sky. Outstanding work, congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great evening,
I liked your detailed story very much and I hope that since the day of your posting things have turned out well regarding your work.
