I've been reviewing my trip to Iceland and realized there are still so many photos that I wish to share.
I could easily make another 2 week trip to this amazingly photogenic country! Iceland took my breath away with its rustic beauty. If any of you out there have given any thought to visiting but turned it down, don't! Make it happen if you can and you won't be disappointed.
This photo was taken only a few minutes outside of the airport. We got our rental jeep and headed out onto the highway. Within only 5 min you notice scenes like this one.
The sun was just rising over the horizon, and the lighting was so beautiful.
Believe it or not, but this Abandoned house is actually on a Golf Course!!! So i sneaked onto the course quickly with my tripod and snapped away a few HDR shots.
I'll post another wider angle shot of the abandoned homes in the WS
thanks for looking

I prefer more hot countries :-) but this shot is really beautiful. The "Golden" old house is placed in golden ratio point. Fantastic sky and minimal composition.
I have looked at the other shot of this house but in my opinion this view is better than the shot in the workshop. TFS

Hi Craig - I seem to remember you posting a different shot of this house as your first Iceland post. What is it about old, abandoned houses that captivates the imagination so strongly? The minute I see one I begin to weave a story around it and imagine families who once called it home. Sad really that these old walls no longer offer shelter for anyone.
Beautiful light here, it just bounces off the yellowish walls, which incidentally contrast really well with the beautifully figured sky. I like the way you have composed the shot with lots of air and empty land, these features add to the feeling of loneliness.
Love shot. Warm regards rosemary

A beauty of an abandoned house, and what a cool idea for a hazard on a golf course! You composed this perfectly under the sweeping active sky and its lit perfectly.
You know, looking at your shots makes me want to go back to this beautiful country. I visited once many years ago, but before the shutterbug had taken hold of me, and I missed out on so much by not seeing the country through a photographers eyes. Your presentations from here are magic.
All the best

I'm fan of your wide angle lens, with which you play top notch compos
this one is no exception, with a splendid sky
Bravo and best regards
Did you have time to browse the photos in the FB photo contest that I told you about? And possibly voted for me (and others)

what a splendid shot!! The light is fabulous. It lights up the house beautifully and makes a gorgeous contrast to the overcast sky. The colors look soft, but natural, the depth is incredible and you placed the house right in the sweet spot. Your workshop is every bit as nice as this one, too. Well done!! Many thanks and kindest wishes,
holmertz (37149) 2013-08-22 10:34
The light is fantastic, the sky looks great and the house looks like it's well below par. A great shot, to sum it up.

I have not been to Iceland but your enthusiasm for it really makes me want to visit. I love this photo with its wide landscape, big area of sky and with the abandoned house carefully positioned in the frame. Gorgeous colours that are not over-saturated - beautiful!
Kind Regards, Ann

A very attractive subject , with a superb sky contrasting so well with the golden tonalities of the house and the grass .

Another little gem from your trip to Iceland. Superb lighting and colours in this shot taken from a good POV which shows this old house well against the big sky. Excellent congratulations.

Looks like you´ve found your favourite photo´s theme:)Old abandoned houses and cars-something,that most of us wouldn´t have noticed you turn into a real work of arts!
Love this one!It has lovely light and it´s great to see how it affects the color scheme of the image.Other thing is the sky(looks amazing)and the way you fill with it almost the whole frame.

Hi Craig: Great shot of this old house with character. Makes me want to go to Iceland now more than ever before. Great low sun angle, the clouds cooperated nicely and the texture of the siding on the house makes for a really rustic look.
Greetings from Florida................Greg
By the way....I think that's a TV antenna, right? Did they really get reception with that thing way out there years and years ago?
Periko (2379) 2013-08-22 22:31
Abandoned and defenseless faced with that sky so imposing. The lighting is superb and the house is very striking.

Très belle photo de cette maison abandonnée. Jolie composition, lumière superbe et beau ciel. La photo du WS est belle également.
HimalAnda (8552) 2013-08-22 23:45
I like this composition which show us the lonelyness of this house.
carlo62 (27798) 2013-08-23 0:17
semplice e bella, un'inquadratura pulita che rende il senso dell'abbandonato grazie anche allo spazio che hai lasciato al cielo, dando un senso di immensità e facendo sembrare la casa ancor più piccola e solitaria.
dkmurphys (46408) 2013-08-23 1:34
Simple and very attractive catch. Sometimes, abandoned old buildings are more attractive than kitschy new ones. Nice work, you've created a fine atmosphere around the subject.
Enjoy the day.
timecapturer (45309) 2013-08-23 2:30
an atmospheric and sad shot this, made all the more so with the moody sky and your well chosen POV. A real sense of desolation and lonely abandonment. A sensual and sensitively created image. Like it a lot!
Have a great weekend - Brian.

saxo042 (36912) 2013-08-23 9:05
A very artistically composed picture with soft and pleasant colours. The poor maintenance of the house seem to enhance the value of the photo.
Royaldevon (26629) 2013-08-23 10:57
This isolated house looks like something from horror film. I say that because, to me, the house has a face and seems to be crying out. In addition, the skin (walls) is wrinkled and covered in sores!
Now that you have evoked the emotion in me, I can state clearly that it is a very strongly composed shot, with details, of both features and textures, that create a strong response!
Have a great day,
Schnappilic (9686) 2013-08-23 12:33
Congratulations for this beautiful picture with a great light and splendid atmosphere. A real high quality picture!

Hi Craig, I would like to visit Iceland but for a moment I am interested in other directions. But if I went there I would look for different things, not abandoned houses :). But I am sure you were delighted that you could use it tripod there. For my next trip I will go with mine too :).
Superb shot and light.
gus72 (3719) 2013-08-24 2:40
Hi Craig !!
a very nice photo with three striking colours ..... yellow against an angry sky looks very impressive.
Nice composition with the barn positioned of centre.
what a welcoming to you..... 5 minutes into the trip and a great find.
Enjoy the week end.
chawax (18475) 2013-08-24 3:14
A little distorsion, but the light is amazing and the abandoned house is a nice subject for photography.
mkamionka (29259) 2013-08-24 12:04
I am so jealous you can now upload pics from so many countries and they are all new.
This is a very attractive capture. The wide angle view adds a nice touch here and the light so soft and warm is the highlight of this photo.

Hello dear Craig,
Simple but quite beautiful ! Very good pov and layout. Interesting notes.
TFS and have a nice weekend
mirosu (12576) 2013-08-25 5:00
Excellent photo in superb light and clarity. You´ve placed the main point of interest, the old house, to the side of the frame which really does strengthen things and creates excellent balance. The nice light and excellent sky colors add a nice hue to the scene.
Thanks for your comment to my "Old Town" photo. If you like old town building, nice vine & beer and excellent food, you must visit Bratislava.
Wish you a very nice Sunday. Greetings, Miro
Hansaphotos (6415) 2013-08-27 10:48
Ideal lighting for shooting this fabulous scene. The corrugated iron and the rusty fields along the facade really makes the house stand out in the surrounding barren landscape. Great shot my friend! TFS.

Ciao Craig, great view of fascinating abandoned building, fantastic sky, splendid light and wonderful colors, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio

Hi Craig. From the photos I have seen on TE of Iceland, it does have an amazing topography. Not many trees to block the trajectory of the golf ball!Wonderful light. Best regards. Klaudio.
willperrett (5982) 2013-08-29 0:53
You certainly make a persuasive case for visiting Iceland, both with your comments and of course with your photograph. I love the tonal difference between the sky and the land, and the late afternoon (?) sun on the abandoned building really adds another dimension. For some reason, I'm finding I can't access the EXIF data (on anyone's image). More TE gremlins maybe.
olive224 (2719) 2013-09-05 5:09
Great Job here ;)
I like the light and the colors
adores (34474) 2013-09-05 18:55
Just fabulous, the old lonely house, the light, the dark sky. Amazing that they didn't destroy it because of the gold course, but it's surely more original this way.
A great shot, I'm glad you're checking your archives again:)!
