Photographer's Note

Camp at night, lost in dunes, looking the stars.
It is a self portrait, using a remote controller.
Looking toward Orion, Sirius and the milky way. Near horizon, on bottom right, it is the star Canopus, the second brightest star after Sirius.

I knew it was yours even before looking at the name.
Beautiful how the man is looking at the sky, and the lightened tent.
I suppose the starry night in the desert should be amazing.
At least it is not as cold as in Nepal, where the sky was fantastic, but really cold to fully enjoy it.

This is very impressive: a challenging subject from the point of view of exposure, but you've handled it successfully, with all elements seen. The red tent is a necessary counterpoint to the beautiful night sky. I'm surprised that in 22 seconds we can't see any star movement, and that you managed to stand still for so long!

Tu nous fait rêver, les yeux dans les étoiles. Tu as dû te tenir sans bouger pendant 22 secondes! Très bon cadrage, avec la tente rouge et ta présence est absolument indispensable pour compléter la photo et rédiger ta note.

Bonjour Yves. Very poetic photo and universal in many ways as it demonstrates the fascination that the heavens have had for humans, starting (in written records at least) with the ancient civilizations and continuing to the present so that we are linked with the Babylonians, Egyptians, Aztecs, Druids, etc. I love the light in the tent sending its tiny light to the stars and you looking up at the magic above.Beautiful work Yves. Hello Yves - This is impressive. How did you stand still so long? Perfect sharpness and the stars are wonderful pinpoints of light on a midnight blue velvet sky. The light inside the red tent is well managed, not a bot overexposed. Clever work. Best regards Rosemary

Hi Yves! 22 Seconds!! Really?!??! WOW!! The stars seem very sharp especially the man!
Top quality shot, clear crisp and sharp! The lighting and the colors are amazing, the atmosphere is just heavenly, I can imagine being that man on the photo. I bet the moment was really beautiful. Love the framework, the composition and the spacing of the elements. The chosen format really highlights the clear sky with these amazing stars. Great capture!

I am now appreciating an image full of stars. This is indeed a 5 billion star accommodation, instead of 5 stars. Under the most beautiful starry light, the light in the tent is also so beautiful. The quality of the presented image and its ambience bring me to a different space. How you have exposed the image is a mystery to me. The deep blue sky and the countless number of the stars in the sky, the image is absolutely captivating. Your self-portrait, the figure standing in silhouette adds another dimension to the image. The solitude of the image is very poetic and full of peacefulness. The image speaks of a true Universal Language. I love the photo very much.

Fantastique! Le ciel est déjà fantastique avec Orion et son bouclier et Sirius, entre autres, mais ce qui augment encore la beauté de l'image c'est ta tente rouge éclairée et ta présence en contemplateur statique. Du très très beau travail!

Magnifique photo de ce ciel pur, quelle chance de voir tant détoiles. On se croitait presque sur une autre planete. J'adore la tente rouge au premier plan avec cette tache de lumière et la silhouette à côté.

Une belle réussite ici, Yves,
une sorte d'heure bleue désertique, un ciel clair qui dévoile tellement de secrets. Cette touche rouge est très esthétique. Le choix du format vertical colle bien. Assurément une parfaite maitrise des prises de vues nocturnes.
