Photographer's Note
A brightly painted restaurant in the town of Worthing, West Sussex, England. The original building dates from 1887 and is a little piece of Victoriana, but the colours would not be out of place in modern day Mexico. Just as well really as the theme of the menu here is distinctly TexMex.

You are right, colors are not at all Victorians, an image clean, cold, perfectly modern in its geometrical lines. Colors remember a bit your flag....

Hello Brian - I love this composition, the sharp shadows created by the position of the sun adds super contrast and underlines the detail in the mouldings very effectively. Colours are clean and vibrant and the sky is wonderful. A sunny and colourful treat! Warm regards rosemary

Hello Brian,
this makes me smile because the composition seems all wrong but at the samm time alright! There's a quirkiness and fun in this image. The elements of the blue and white and sunshine and shadows give a passing nod to Greece. But this is definately the uk.
Well seen,
Bev

Hi Brian,
A fantastic upward pov with good symmetry between the 2 angled window sills facing one another. Nice warm cold color contrasts between the red & blue, with impeccable sharpness. Interesting repetitive cloud patterns in the sky. Tfs!

I bet you cursed that asymmetric drainpipe ! This is darn near perfect but the wayward pipe ! Those I suppose it is neatly balanced out by that wayward shadow.
And that sky ! Never mind the house, this picture is worth it for the sky alone. Gorgeous. I keep saying to myself, and anyone else who cares to listen, 'Look up !', we can miss so much by keeping our eyes down. You certainly made the most of that sentiment with this shot !
Bravo !

Dear Brian
Heheheh Sussex goes Tex-Mex, who'da thought! But I see what you're saying. What's extraordinary about this photo is that you've turned an everyday house into a work of art, just what photography is all about. And this magic has been done, as far as I can se, by using a low POV, creating impressive perspective, making the most of this magnificent clouds and of course your trademark sharpness and saturation. Congrats, what a pleasure to look at.
Cheers

Good Morning Brian,
The upward pov really gives this building a feeling of elevation - it's lifting its eyes to the sky! Beautifully sharp and detailed. I'm sure many people will have been surprised to see the date on the roof adornment!
Have a great day,
Bev :-)

Hello Brian,
Yes, exactly - three colours: orange blue and white (if white actually is a colour!). And what a combination!
An impressively simple and very symmetrical composition here and one which, I must confess, is not, to my mind at least, spoiled by the "wayward" drainpipe to which Martin refers - I actually think that adds to the composition, together with its shadow crossing the shadow of the projecting roofline on the white wall.
What is really impressive here is that the whites really are white and not muddy grey or off-white - just pure white. But the lighting is also superb, the sky is absolutely amazing and the colours vibrant. Stunning sharpness, as ever.
Brilliant!
Kind Regards,
John.
