This is taken in a side street on to the magnificent Westminster Cathedral, It reminds me of children's Lego blocks the way the brickwork is.
Westminster Cathedral in London is the mother church of the Catholic community in England and Wales and the Metropolitan Church and Cathedral of the Archbishop of Westminster. It is dedicated to the "Most Precious Blood of Jesus Christ".
The site on which the Cathedral stands originally belonged to the Benedictine monks who established the nearby Westminster Abbey and was purchased by the Archdiocese of Westminster in 1885.
The cathedral is located in Victoria, SW1, in the City of Westminster. It is the largest Catholic church in England and Wales, and should not be confused with Westminster Abbey of the Church of England. Westminster Cathedral is the seat of the Archbishop of Westminster, as of 2013 Vincent Nichols. As a matter of custom, each newly appointed Archbishop of Westminster has eventually been created a cardinal in consistory.
John Betjeman called it "a masterpiece in striped brick and stone in an intricate pattern of bonding, the domes being all-brick in order to prove that the good craftsman has no need of steel or concrete. info Wiki

I used to come across this building quite often when I worked in London, but never took a picture of it, more's the pity. This is a great point of view that accentuates the strong graphical lines of the architecture and the height of the soaring towers. I like very much the rich red tones of the brickwork and the excellent detail.
Mild and partly cloudy today, threatening rain but none so far.

This is almost the same style as the prison in Leuven Belgium with the white strokes in the brickwork

A great shot, apart form the apparent quality, the dramatic angle - viewpoint makes the edifice look so massive with the converging verticals and exaggeration. The colors are sumptuous and stands out to blue background. Excellent capture and tfs

What an amazing place! I agree it is quite Lego like, but the kid inside me finds that very appealing, and were I to perhaps sit down and play Lego with my family, this would be a perfect subject to try and build. An impressive view, the towers seem to soar into the heavens, exactly their purpose I guess. This would be perfectly at home in Venice or Milan, so I was a little surprised to see its London. Cool photo and place.

I liked your title:-) Indeed the striped nature of the structure makes it stand out. What's interesting is that the stones almost glisten in the sun. The bricks contrast well with the cyan sky

I watched a Poirot episode last night which talks about the difference between Westminster Cathedral and Abbey. I never knew there were 2, one for the Prods and one for the Cathaholics. So your photo is very apposite, and may I comment that it reminds me of a mosque? I expected this to be in downtown Istanbul or somewhere. Not in the middle of London! It's impressive and really beautiful. Live the wide angle shot, the rich red tones and slight bokeh which ramps up the artistic nature of the shot. Well done, and thanks for your note.
