Wentworth Falls for Alfred (alftrek) who was here recently but unfortunately for reasons out of his control was unable to walk down to this area.
Wentworth Falls is probably the most stunning waterfall in the Blue Mountains. Having two sections falling from the top to a ledge half way down and then again to the very bottom of the valley, if there was no break, these falls would be the highest waterfall in the Blue Mountains. You can see the top half of the falls from Wentworth Falls Lookout at the end of Falls Road, or Princess Rock, a short walk from the car park however is required to really appreciate the Wentworth Falls region.
I believe the Wentworth Falls can be rather dry at certain times of the year & a little uninspiring but after the heavy rains in the region we were very fortunate to be able to see these magnificent falls in their full splendour, to really appreciate these falls a walk is highly recommended. The walk to the falls and back is a little difficult at times, the ground can be very slippery when wet, the track is tight, winding & steep, it can seem fairly short or long depending on the level of fitness, one thing for certain one will not be disappointed but rather well rewarded by the spectacular views.
Taken in the company of Lisa (delpeoples) and Paolo (paololg)
Thank you Lisa for looking after us so well while we were in Sydney and accompanying us to so many beautiful & exiting places, a special thanks to your other half (Kevino) who let you out day & night with two strange men :) and furthermore he did it without a complaint.
My mistake this is not the Wentworth Falls but rather the Empress Falls found in the Valley of the Waters in the Blue Mountains at a place called Wentworth Falls. Thanks guys for the information.

Waterfall shots can be hard to take well. This is a beauty! The length of exposure is perfect for the effect of the water falling. The light and colours are very well managed, and the composition has interest from FG to BG.

Hi Santo - great photo - good darks and use of light. There's just one problem - this isn't Wentworth Falls but a set of falls in the Valley of the Waters on the way down to National Pass. I should have come with you!
I'll check my maps for the correct name and let you know.
I've also posted a photo of Wentworth Falls as a workshop - not a great one but one that'll give you an impression of its power, wlthough the photo was taken in a dry period.

Spectacular waterfall scene, superb colours especially the reds in the water and the green of the mosses on the FG rocks. Great composition and POV. The DOF and sharpness is first class at just the perfect exposure. Beautiful TFS

Looks a little like Elabana Falls in Lamington National Park, Qld. I like the patch of sunlight bottom left giving the water a reddish tint. Good sharpness & excellent motion blur of the rushing water. Superb shadow detail & well managed lighting. Tfs!

Un très beau cadrage vertical qui met parfaitement en vedette cette belle chute dans toute sa hauteur et sa splendeur. Un très beau filé qui ajoute du mouvement à l'eau.

Very beautiful nature photo with excellent light and exposure management. I like this a lot.
delpeoples (50271) 2012-04-03 12:33
What a masterpiece! The light is exquisite and you've turned this place into a place of magic. The quality of this photo is far beyond anything I could muster which is a tribute both to your skill as a photographer and in post-processing, which is subtle and skillful.
As to the name, sorry for giving you a bum steer. The suburb is definitely Wentworth Falls and the name of the falls are Empress Falls, which is part of the Valley of the Waters.
Thanks for the kind words in your note, it's easy to be nice to nice people- as my Mamma says.
PS: hai ricevuto il mio SMS riguarde Melbourne?
brianmcc (5961) 2012-04-03 13:41
your composition is superb, especially the portrait format, which really cpatures the height of the waterfall very well. superbly well exposed to produce well saturated colours. excellent sharpness and depth of field.

an impressive natural landscape shot. Successful framing. Great light management with good DOF controlled. Nice color tones & sharpness also.
I wish a good week.

Ciao caro Santo
Che bella immagine, sembra tridimensionale da quanto è reale. Stupendo il POV che punta verso l' alto da una base coloratissima nitida e con un' illuminazione speciale. Complimenti Santo

I love the composition: the vertical frame than right here. Collect all the force of the waterfall, around the water and, above all, the entire environment that surrounds it.
Also the light is very good.
In short, I really like.
Saludos y feliz tarde.

It is great to link up with like-minded people who have an intimate knowledge of the area.
This is a fine shot, sharply exposed and with fine textural details.
Your pov places the rocks in a stong position, creating immediate interest for the viewer and a good starting point for the journey up the waterfall. I'm so glad you didn't slow your shutter speed right down; I do like to see water gushing and rushing, not some silky smooth white line!
Have a lovely day,
vjmite (3588) 2012-04-05 5:16
I recognised this as Empress Falls straight away. It's one of the most attractive falls in the Blue Mountains. Nice framing with the big rocks in the foreground. I like the red colour in the water, from the tannin coming out of the leaves of the rainforest trees. As Ian said, this is in the Valley of the Waters - the place is every bit as wonderful as the name suggests.
fritzi007 (219) 2012-04-05 6:03
really very nice representation of the waterfall in the Blue Mountains. Is this a tropical landscape?

what a beautiful 4 level waterfall, i 4 spots the water changes direction and flow.
I'm curious....where did you focus on? what spot did you choose as your main focal point as there are so many to choose from?
Mother nature at her best, wonderful subject, especially with all the trees surrounding it too.
Kielia (21953) 2012-04-07 7:59
this image is a delight for everybody who loves nature! A great impression of this interesting fall taken from a very well working POV. Very beautiful light and colors. My compliments also for the accompanying note!

What a beautiful waterfall! You have captured it with well-balanced composition, colorful foreground and optimal camera setting to show streams in dynamics. Perfectly good presentation of this unique place!

Excellent work! Love the great balance of the exposition, everything is just beautifully presented. Nice natural colors, love the level of vibrance as it is not too strong and overly done. Well captured!
Robert1969 (6712) 2012-11-03 1:57
The vertical position creates a very nice
depth in the picture and makes the
waterfall extra higher. The stones on
the forground emphasizes extra the depth.
