Each August thousands of "gear heads" travel to the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. Most are taking mile long runs at speed records, other vehicles are left to ponder what might have been.

Best, perfect, I'm totaly shocked. Evrything is perfect: light, colors, POV, DOF. Looks like advertsime picture (technical aspects)

I agree that everything comes together perfectly in this photo. I love this tiny, retro-looking trailer with pastel shades of blue. The position in the frame is great, and I like the thin shadow on the ground, too. I can't imagine staying in that trailer, in such an other-worldly location. It must be quiet an experience.

Cette photo est frappante par son originalité. Les blancs sont bien gérés, et la petite roulotte est très attirante avec son côté rétro et son bleu pastel. Bravo, beau travail.

This is stunning in its simplicity. The balance of light and dark are perfect and the angle at which you chose to take the photo lends movement and makes me think of the journey this little caravan must have been on when it was left behind. The exposure is spot on... it would have been so easy for the salt to get blown out, but the delicate texture is still visible. Fantastic!

Hello David - The uncluttered stark landscape makes an excellent 'canvas' for this retro-caravan. I love the washed-out paintwork and the van's rounded form and the strong harsh shadows. The colours of van and landscape mimic each other with just those red tail lights and reflectors adding a little extra zing of colour. My only suggestion is that you could have used a lower ISO as the shot is ever-so slightly grainy and PP sharpening is a little soft. Otherwise a superb shot. Well seen. Best regards Rosemary

This has an unusual and lovely quality about it - the softness suits the subject. The old trailer looks so isolated on the salt flats almost as if it has been abandoned. The composition is excellent with the trailer placed in the corner on the diagonal. The uncluttered simplicity with a narrow range of colours makes a superb picture.

love that catch. The atmosphere of loneliness and seclusion is really present. I also like the unity of the tones with those specks of red .A real cool shot.
I wonder about sharpness though. Being at f/20, I think it should be sharper than that...maybe to to compression for the web. Also I would run a noise-reduction filter in the sky...Apart from that, I love it.
PS: tried a quick WS to illustrate my point...

This is what I imagine it would be like to stand on the Moon! Totally deserted apart from my little caravan which has taken me there!
The composition is excellent and the lighting on the side of the little caravan (you call them "trailers" in the States?) is just wonderful. Fabulous soft colours, lovely contrasts and, to my eyes at least, excellent sharpness.
I'm not sure about the slight quibble regarding sharpness - this looks perectly sharp to me. But what I do notice (and also in your latest picture ("Into the Unknown") is that there are one or two little sensor dust spots visible in the sky. I have found that this is always most apparent on large "plain" areas like the sky and always appears to be most accentuated when using a small aperture as you have done in this case (f/20). Personally, I wouldn't do anything other than judiciously try to clone out these spots during processing: I'm always terrified of playing about with the camera's sensor.

Love everything in your picture: light, colours, POV, atmosphere,.....
Thanks a ton!

you have some nice images in your gallery, and, moreover, you have some nice and original ideas.
I like this one, for the strong contrast. I would have used a wider compo, to give more the sense of wide space and isolation.

A surrealistic trailer in a fantastic out of this earth scenery, like some avant garde road movie. Congrats
