The gondolas at San Marco, are always a favorite spot for photographers and have been taken million of times. So I thought to try a technique I was fond of at the time. It was all about taking multi shots
( Here 8 or 9 ) one on the top of the other without getting the film advance. Of course the exposure time was shortened relatively and I slightly moved the camera's location every time. I think that the result shows a different approach when compared to the classical picture.

I think this technique is feasable with digital camera, too, though much postproccessing would be needed.
Love the results here achieved, I think this looks really great!

Very nice shot
I am guessing layers in photoshop would give something roughly similar. To try..
starbug (6924) 2005-11-25 7:55
i thought at first it was the effect of PP, but reading your note i must say your technique is really imaginative! i relly like this effect, like an impressionist painting, lovely colours to...all in all- I love it!

this is really excellent izzet, and quite creative. This picture creates a very interesting mood so you have given a new soul to a well (too well) known landscape;
Was the camera on a tripod that you slightly modified each time or hand held (in which case i am even more impressed of the result you achieved)

Amazing effect. i'm impressed by the idea, you've managed to make this sight of gondolas exceptional. and there's also another thing. I'm shortsighted and whenever i don't wear my glasses, simply get what you did!! You've inspired me as i always thought of showing how different world can be for shortsighted people. great colours great shot!

Great technique, Izzet - the result you got looks nothing short of an impressionist painting. Composition-wise, it is also nice with the lineup of gondolas in front, and the view towards the church in the back. Certainly a creative and intelligent way to avoid the standard postcard. I like it.

A very interesting technique that links for me into Turner's paintings of the city - he embellished his images and re-organised the architecture as here you have re-organised the look of these gondalas - a very interesting and successful experiment - veryu nice !
best wishes Kev

Very interesting technique. What I like most is the effect on the light in the water, and the beautiful dark green and red that came out in the two central boats.

You've created a wonderful painting in the Impressionistic genre. By the time I wrote the last sentence, I saw the first critique below, echoing the same sentiment. There is a shimmering feel in the paint, just as the great French Impressions tried to create. What a different mood this image creates, and yet it is exactly the same view as my photo of the Gondolas of Venice.
