Photographer's Note

Espresso is a concentrated beverage brewed by forcing a small amount of nearly boiling water under pressure through finely ground coffee beans. Espresso often has a thicker consistency than coffee brewed by other methods, a higher concentration of suspended and dissolved solids, and crema (foam). As a result of the pressurized brewing process the flavours and chemicals in a typical cup of coffee are very concentrated. Espresso is the base for other drinks, such as a latte, cappuccino, macchiato, mocha, or americano. Espresso has more caffeine per unit volume than most beverages, but the usual serving size is smaller—a 30 mL (1 US fluid ounce) shot of espresso has 40 to 75 mg of caffeine, which is about half the caffeine of a standard 240 mL (8 US fluid ounces) cup of drip-brewed coffee. A professional operator of an espresso machine is a barista, the Italian word for bartender.

Hello Maria, I must admit to drinking many espresso coffee while I was in Italy, in Venice I also had a few Spritz, an alcoholic drink famous in this part of Italy, did you try it? Lovely photo, well framed with nice rich colours, good contrast & clarity. Sometimes I think it is almost impossible to take a bad photo in Venice but of course that is not true, a person must have skill like you have shown here, Well done

Hi Maria,

I'm sipping delicious cappuchino right now, so the choice as to what photo to comment on was pretty much made for me once I saw this title :)

This is such a lovely postcard from Venice. The cafes, gondolas, the colours of the facades of the buildings, all convey the feel of this vibrant place very well. A great choice of POV and excellent clarity. The square frame helps to draw us straight into the strory. TFS!

its a place where the overall atmosphere of the people and architecture is a never ending supply of goodness :)

Typical scenery on the canal's, this is the most photographed town TE, but the eyes never been satiated.
POV is super, the colors and the vivid action on are marvelous.

Hello Maria,
I took on of your older photos. I like Venice very much. I was there few week ago, the coffee shops are the same, but much more tourists around than some time back. I think you have taken this photo from one of the bridges on the Canal Grande. Excellent viewpoint and perfect composition with the buldings placed diagonally and not missing the water with gonolas. I like it very much.
