I have changed my mind several times this morning, what to post. Candidates were Amarapura, Grand Canyon, defence of Sevastopol, moai, China, France...But wherever we go we see the people using their mobiles. Here the scene from Varanasi. The small girl is so interested in what her grandpa is doing that they haven't noticed me.

Hello Malgorzata ,
What a beautiful and interesting double portrait ! They seem to be so concentrated to use the mobile .
A superb framing and an outstanding sharpness .

charming daily life scene from my country :-). Excellent composition with fine natural colours and great clarity. The wall behind with its textures makes a nice backdrop.
Thanks for sharing this beautiful picture.

A fine and interesting street scene with very good and attractive colours. The people here are indeed deeply engaged in the cell phone, they are totally unaware of you taking this picture.

A captivating photograph which shows how modern technology has reached almost everywhere!
The two expressions are so different!
Grandpa is concentrating hard on the task in hand, the little girl is animatedly interested like any child seeing a new toy!
Lovely angled composition and fine sharp details.
Have a lovely day,

Yep! isn't it the truth! They are everywhere and some
cannot live without them. This is a beautiful study though, so much concentration and immaculate detail that makes for an intriguing and wonderful image.
Have a good week - B.

A modern miracle or a curse, you can't avoid them wherever you go in the world! I like this charming daily life image with the contrasting generations. Excellent presentation.

A "topclass" capture in your gallery ! Good that you've chosen this one.
It's a real problem of modern times those handies. Last Friday evening I had a lecture here in İstanbul and was been interrupted twice by ringing handies !
But here the most interesting part of your compo is this little girl's gesture and face ! "What a wonderfull thing" !
TFS and best regards

They do seem to be entranced by what they are doing here, and it makes for a fascinating image. The poses and expressions of both people in ths shot are great and really photogenic. Love your compsotion of the whole scene.
Happy st Patrick's day from Ireland.

Excellent, today very actual street snapshot. You have captured this man and the girl in superb light. I like the arrangement with the simple wall in BG. Scene we can witness in every corner of this planet.
Very well done.

Tosca and i will get here one of these days :)
And this is certainly one of the cities i want to see aswell.
did you meet up with any TE members in India?
This photo looks a bit HDR.
seems like you were so close but they didnt know.
excellent details and textures.
lovely light and colors too. Fine shot.

Once again I am so surprised that you have hidden a fine picture like this for more than four years. Why on earth did you not consider it worth showing before? It's really one of your best for some time. I love the attention shown by the old man and the girl, and the way the man is crossing his legs. The colours and PP are excellent. I think you could have cropped the upper part to get rid of the window.

Hi Malgo, excellent final choice for your today post,an interesting pic showing us how the world is changed, and i like a lot the strange work in PP,the man and the girl seems made in plastic! Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Ahaha...yes, they're everywhere these days! No matter the location, person or situation, it seems like the world is increasingly connected to technology that can't seem to be left alone for a minute.
Love what you've captured here, and the fact you were apparently unnoticed is evident. Maybe he's actually searching for an "app" that lets him know when his picture is being taken. :) It's a fun scene though, and even endearing that these two would share the moment together. Nicely spotted, well taken, and presented beautifully! Enjoy the new day. All the best.

This is wonderful photo of these two Grandpa and Granddaughter engrossed in his mobile phone.
What I am amazed is your quality of this image is suburb, as we can see their skin tones are so smooth.
SnapRJW (31627) 2014-03-17 23:36
Hello Malgo - I really like the close interaction and shared fascination that grandpa and granddaughter share here. The cell phone is one of the most useful devices of recent years and here in Namibia the people living miles away from other forms of communication can at last be part of each others lives and keep in contact with one another.
Yes, there are downsides as they seem to invade personal space and it is difficult to go anywhere without someone shouting into his or her phone but what a boon they are for communications in the developing world.
A fine shot and one of which you should be very proud.

Without being able to see what 'exactly' is in the mobile screen, I can guess what he's doing...inputting mobile numbers which he had noted down in his small memo pad, which he holds in his hand...and he is so intent on this activity as is his grand daughter, that they are oblivious of the foreigner lady with the camera!? A fine daily life shot indeed from my favourite Indian city
photoray (13719) 2014-03-18 6:39
Interesting candid view anchored by smart phone, Grandpa, Granddaughter, textured back wall almost art within itself.
Miniatures continue to expand and increase in popularity. I went the opposite path and purchased another 17 inch screen laptop, best for photography and visuals.
eldancer1 (32756) 2014-03-18 7:34
Indeed! When I last visited my old country, the Philippines, in 2007 I saw several cell towers even the virgin forest which ruins the beautiful scenery. Nice capture of the daily life of people with good details. Well done, tfs.
Kamilutka (8105) 2014-03-18 8:37
Swietna praca i ciekawe przeslanie.

Nice spotted the modern act on the streets of varanasi, Malgo.
I reckon its much more importent to buy a cell-phone and spare a pair of sandals to the girl...
They look to be fascinated when looking at the screen, nice faces expressions.
Well collected, good evening,
adramad (41118) 2014-03-18 10:35
A stunning image and magnifies the present life, in which mobiles have come rolling, we surprised a bit in this environment, with such traditional clothes of the characters, the girl looks with a noteworthy attention, a large portrait of the two.
Very pretty color, which gives a lot of life to the image.
A magnificent brightness management, sharpness also
is perfect for enjoying the details.
Very well seen and well taken.

Complimenti. Uno scatto degno di un concorso!
Ciao e buona serata

Hello Malgo. Grandfather and granddaughter. An interesting photo to admire. Even when everything looks traditionally - people have a mobile phone. Well observed and presented.
