Photographer's Note

At a maximum depth of approximately 3790 meters (12434 feet) from river to mountain peak, Tiger Leaping Gorge is one of the deepest and most spectacular river canyons in the world. It is about 30km long and normally getting from one end to another takes two days.
There are two routes leading through the gorge: lower one (easy) which is not that beautiful since it runs all the time on the tarmac road and the higher one (difficult) which takes one right to the top of the mountains. The views from the second one are absolutely fantastic but one has to pay quite high price for them, since trekking is really exhausting.
Ya Cha Village located at 2000m is one of the few places in Tiger Leaping Gorge, where after negotiating 28 bends one can get some water or food before continuing trekking to the Middle Gorge. The village is very small and its inhabitants live mostly from farming or supplying tourists with accommodation.
This picture was taken from the path leading down after reaching the highest point in the gorge. I was extremely tired but this view was truly rewarding. We did not stay overnight there, but had few minutes well deserved rest anyway.
