Photographer's Note

Few years ago, when I seriously started to make pictures,
Spaarndam was one of my first locations.

Two years ago it was a disaster, There was
much building and many photogenic spots were
replaced by concrete.

Last week I was curious how it would look now.
"Not bad" was my mind, although I rarely shoot
houses/buildings

The streetlight was still burning late that
morning and that gave a nice "old and warm
colors".

I chose this point of view, because I liked
the frozen stones on the forground (two
depth's) and I wanted not scare the Ducks.
Composition is extra wide open: I like the
movement of the sky and it makes the picture
nice calmness.

About Spaardam: it's nearby Haarlem, IJmuiden
and 20 minutes from Amsterdam. The centre has
luckily not lost it's old charm (nice old and
little houses) and there is a nice little
harbour and pub :-).
