This is how the bustling hill station of Simla looks like when one looks at the urbanisation that has taken place from a distance. It appears like a frame out of a video game. During my recent visit to the town, I liked it in parts...surely not this part which anyway made for a good image and a different take on the hill station.

Jeppo (17639) 2008-09-02 23:21
this is something new and different from your style.
well, these houses look like lego-made buildings...colourful...but lead us to think about how wild urbanisation just eat away land.....more and more...quicker and quicker
InasiaJones (31448) 2008-09-02 23:25
I really like this patchwork of houses, stacked one above the other.
Impressive point of view and shocking reality.
ribeiroantonio (22637) 2008-09-02 23:34
Wow, this is quite impressive. In the bottom section it looks like containers over containers. On the other hand, it is a very colourful place. Thanks for showing it.

excelent tittle for this excelent picture !
marion44 (9) 2008-09-03 0:00
Very colourful picture, very full. We speak a lot here about "densification" in the cities... I think it's done in Simla ! Very impressive and informative photo, thanks for sharing this view with us :)
sayanwithsenice (758) 2008-09-03 0:02
It is really true that simla is getting filled by hotels day by day and thus loosing its natural beauty by getting so urbanized...
The photograph really looks like the game , 'simcity'.. The amazing construction of the buildings by the steep slopes , makes this shot very interesting.. Superb idea.. Keep posting ..
phwall (6785) 2008-09-03 0:03
Amazing shot, really makes the urban quarter acre block here in Australia look like luxery. Incredible, simply incredible.
So much for minimalism.

Hello Aadiil! Wonderful cityscape. Amazing perspective. Good capture and frame. Great effect. Good luck!

Graal (96760) 2008-09-03 0:44
amazing town landscape, good POV and composition. I like the red roofs and houses like on stairs. Rich palette of colours. Good work.
brandstaetter (15915) 2008-09-03 1:02
the compression of the distances, caused by the tele lens, is very well to see and give a beautiful effect. I also like that you don´t show the horizon, so the size of the city is still shown by our fantasy only.
nirvana73 (0) 2008-09-03 1:06
good idea and observation
here is looking like place where I lived
thanks for sharing
pastadog (13111) 2008-09-03 1:10
Hi Aadil - skyless/bottomless frame, very attractive idea... somehow it does have a daily life feeling actually... regards, Daniel
PixelTerror (0) 2008-09-03 1:54
That's the density of the concentration that makes the image interest here, so many shapes and elements, and the diversity of colors adds to it, nice view.
Have a nice day JY

Beautiful panorama, interesting architecture, nice colours and good sharpness.
kschanna (6) 2008-09-03 3:12
Ramzan Mubarak to you too. I really like the lego look, the colors are good and the exposure is very well balanced. It reminds me of a hill station Murree, very similar climate and look of the city.
Nolme (6829) 2008-09-03 3:41
Cette photo donne l'impression d'un empilement des maisons. Une urbanisation sauvage mais colorée.
bon témoignage ami Aadiil

I LOVE that game and I dedicated to it some shots:
I like a lot yours, tor it's crowded view and endless details.

I really like this beautiful patchwork of houses, stacked one above the other.
Thanks for sharing.
dArpAn (499) 2008-09-03 5:24
B'ful click of a so densely populated area- It seems houses are being built one over another! As usual, ur good eye for composition. One thing more, I like ur style of adding white border alot- it just boosts the aesthetics of the shot immensely.
Keep them coming,

Welcome to shimla, Aadiil.
I feel sorry for you........your camera got you blue tones, where as th city is drenched in either red/pink or green.

dear AAdiil, I have beeen living here for a long time and I hav never seen such faded colours..may be this is the result of oversharpening in Photoshop.
So you didn't like this part of Shimla.....sure urbanisation has taken the toll on the greenries but if you fly on a chooper, you find greenries , rich and in abundabce.
looking for more shots from you........
Geo (1243) 2008-09-03 7:16
This place seems full of life. I can almost smell the cooking and hear the children shouting at play. It looks like a vibrant place I want to visit. Must be the colours and the POV that make it look more inviting than perhaps it is.
Kielia (23351) 2008-09-03 10:05
a fantastic capture of this place from the distance! I like the colours and structures, they are creating an atmosphere of artwork. Would like to see the chaos of this place from a closer POV. Great work!
bracasha75 (24517) 2008-09-03 11:43
O this is a place ful of life
Great shot and good framed
scalerman (26900) 2008-09-03 18:52
Aadiil: a cool collage - interestingly I never stumbled across a view this remarkable while in Simla... busy, interesting, and a nice piece of work, c
Atousa (7131) 2008-09-03 19:27
What a colorful shot n place! .. it s really eye-catching and there are some lines that lead the eyes to somewhere near the center of the shot (in the right ).. busy n beautiful..thank you
Best regards, Atousa
pcp (3394) 2008-09-03 20:37
Stunning shot... Beautiful observation and Perfect title indeed. Nice framing.. Wonderful colors... Well done.
Wanda1 (14982) 2008-09-03 21:49
This would make an amazing puzzle, there is so much to look at and keep the eyes busy. Layer upon layer of buildings makes for an interesting shot.
PJE (20758) 2008-09-04 6:27
Good Morning Aadiil. I am looking at a number of precariously placed buildings that I would never want to live in! Neither would I feel comfortable if someones house in this setting was located above me. From where I live we have building codes to prevent this kind of chaos. But having complained enough about living quarters I honestly think the SIMCITY title is perfect for this capture. Excellent rhythm and repetitious patterns with a few trees combined in the ensemble. Good capture and thanks for sharing!
jusninasirun (17160) 2008-09-04 6:45
Hello Aadiil. Good framing with clever title. Excellent shot at this cluster of houses in good framing. I like the light and contrast looking like a painting. Best regards. Jusni
amaryllis (34417) 2008-09-04 7:31
en effet impressionnantes toutes ces maisons les unes sur lesautres, cadrage serré, une montagne de maisons avec couleurs
extraordinaire et merci de ce partage et du titre adéquat
cobra112 (15589) 2008-09-04 12:16
Magic taken, dear Aadiil. An amazing coloured untidy tidy.
Stepan (27210) 2008-09-04 12:16
Inspired title for a modern and urban compo... The close crop enhances the density... Works very well.
Charo (51210) 2008-09-04 14:19
A very good closed framing to show us the variegation of all these buildings. A picture very colouring and full of routine character.
Good work my friend.
noborders (1010) 2008-09-05 0:29
I always found that these hill towns looked uggly from the far but your photo proves the contrary - colours are amazing, I imagined them less "cold" but then, it's some years that I've not returned there - great !
archimatica (20317) 2008-09-05 3:50
Simcity is the only game that I appreach... The title is excellent.
Very colorful picture, but there is a problem in this picture... Where are the streets? ;-)
jlynx (12645) 2008-09-05 6:15
Well, needs of the civilization run in different directions. Their product are also such just human housing estates. The excellent shot, very well you operate here with well replete colours. Contrast superbly here bears on the character of the picture.
Best regards of Poznan,
Paolo (41222) 2008-09-05 8:29
Hi Aadiil, beautiful one, with a perfect title to describe this crowded hill! good quality, colours and excellent POV.
marietom (34607) 2008-09-05 8:39
Tant de détails colorés, qui en grand format, doivent être superbes !
Silvio1953 (120566) 2008-09-06 0:26
Ciao Aadiil, fantastic view with great colors, wonderful houses, very well done, have a good week end, ciao Silvio
AiresSantos (56155) 2008-09-06 1:17
Great view of this city... it looks a painting !
Beautiful vivid colours and graphism created by the houses
TFS and have a nice weekend
Dpbours (222) 2008-09-06 1:42
If you would build a city like this in SimCity you would surely get protests and the land value would surely go down :-). You'd be fired as a mayor within 10 years hahaha.
Yeah, you're right. It has something unreal. As such it could be a video game :-).
baba_flies (8829) 2008-09-06 1:44
Pretty crowded :) but I mean which town isn't, the difference is the architecure, the color, the smells and it is maybe time for me too that I take a distant look at my town and see what comes out, and I am sure that I find not only "nices" but very often these things are pushed away and are certainly not shown to tourists. But I do not want to compare of course, I know how spoilt we are but we should not forget that not everybody is spoilt, this is what I want to say. Excellent documentary ... and I like that you kept the colors pale, this again shows the dimension, scary somehow. Best regards ... Barbara.
jurek1951 (42058) 2008-09-07 3:55
Amazing catch, amazing effect, nice point of view...
Great colors, contrast and sharpness.
avene (12675) 2008-09-07 9:51
you're aboslutely right, this does look like the famous game :) the tight framing emphasises how crowded the buildings are, and I like a lot the odd tree here and there to break up the patterns of windows. very well seen and presented, my compliments.
COSTANTINO (54419) 2008-09-07 12:48
Hello my friend,
we ve been lost for a while but here we are again..A good idea to take this picture from a distance and the houses look so small..
the red roofs make a contrast..
regards from greece

Very interesting mosaic panno, Aadiil,
good colourful shot! How billions people living here now?
Nicou (120376) 2008-09-08 2:09
Très belle vue sur cette vielle, les couleurs sont très diversifiées, quelle concentration de maisons, superbe.
Bravo et amitié
trekks (14348) 2008-09-08 3:02
For a few seconds there, I was wondering about the title and looking for SimCity computer game graphics.
This POV of shapes, forms, color mix and patterns deviates from your style of light+shadow but has a different effect of impression.
It is challenging to see roads going up to a place like this and infrastructure cluster will be interesting to observe.
Photo65Net (43120) 2008-09-08 10:21
Superb idea !
I like how the result seems too busy, with all these houses... Very good job here,
Have a nice day,
devimeuxbe (58557) 2008-09-08 12:02
this is a very strange picture. The cropping is excellent, colors are nice. i like your title.
John_F_Kennedy (42062) 2008-09-09 0:32
I like the nice houses and the view so much - the city is so beautiful. Excellent composition and POV here.
Angshu (55375) 2008-09-09 0:39
Nobody will know this's Shimla thanks to your unique way of showing it. Looks a clutter out there & that's infact the truth in any hill station in India. The cropping is very well done & your unique way of presenting this picture makes this excellent!
bostankorkulugu (42014) 2008-09-09 5:37
like a patcwork indeed... with lots of details to explore... very good one my friend, my compliments...
zeca (19762) 2008-09-09 9:05
Very nice photo, Jamal! The colours are very nice and there are lots of little details to entertain the viewer. It looks like a brazilian scenery. Well taken!
gary91 (15348) 2008-09-09 22:54
This one is really a great. Composing this frame with just all these multiple houses with no sky and the variety of colours is a bright idea. The impression and mood given are outstanding.
Have a nice day.
Best regards, Christian
trips (1598) 2008-09-10 8:39
Some time has passed since we didn't "see each other"... This picture shows a very intense aglomerate of buildings. It is amazing. Beautiful colours and framing. And the title matches the image!
sweet_universe (1697) 2008-09-11 0:41
What a fantastic view! Incredible!
I've never seen a village like this!
Budapestman (82620) 2008-09-11 4:11
What a great panorama. The composition is very impressive and the framing is excellent. I like the fantastic spectacle and the vivid colours, the POV is great too. Splendid urban shot, Very well done!
Have a nice day
pboehringer (770) 2008-09-19 13:47
this is a sort of image that I was quite to see daily when living for 21 years in Rio. The scene portraited as a photograph almost gives the impression of exotic, but the reality behind the curtains is a very different one. Good tight cropping just giving a detail out of the overpopulated hill.
Hunkar (6844) 2008-09-30 15:33
Nice texture with colorful houses..
Good composition with good details..
dareco (17134) 2008-10-06 3:01
The detail in this is amazing!!! A very beautiful picture. Perfect pov and filled with lovely colors. TFS
edytungkal (4551) 2008-10-10 1:47

edal (6804) 2008-10-16 13:01
It's a very rich in colors and details townsscape. Remarkable sharpnes and excelent pov.
vbbreizh (2622) 2008-10-17 4:17
A very beautiful one...A nice harmony of colors that reminds me a painting of Paul Klee.
Incredible patchwork ! really well done !
testmaniac (13508) 2008-10-23 23:56
Hi Aadiil, I like your simcity:)But more I will like big image size for more details!
PaulVDV (21959) 2008-10-27 11:46
Perhaps not the best place to live ... but not everybody is completely free to choose the best living conditions.
Your picture shows the dense populated hill very well and it's also a beautiful colour composition. And somewhere I'm glad that people who live with so many on a small area decide to bring more colours in their living conditions.
Best regards, Paul
Juntas (7960) 2008-11-03 13:04
Hi Aadiil. Wonderful colors in this strange view caused by the lack of streets. The title is great. Very well done. Regards. PAulo
ryno (6835) 2008-11-08 23:53
Hi Aadiil, thanks for this very interesting view of Simla - I've often wondered what it looks like. Well cropped and very sharp, with a nice POV.
jrleborgne (1554) 2008-11-29 11:45
Your pictures about India are particularly ongoing and dramatic. They stand for a precious testimonial.
rajiv_077 (1412) 2008-12-13 1:51
I hv seen so many picture of shimla and visited shimla around 4 times also but this POv is really amazing, i m just thinking from where you taken this one, i think near the lift. Love the texture, colors and lights, a top class picture. Indeed a different picture of hill station's .
Colombiana (2955) 2008-12-17 13:12
I really like this type of photography. There are many cities around the world with these type of hill-slope neighborhoods. My hometown of Medellin has hill-slope slums that look very similar. They are pretty colorful and can definately be a good subject to photograph for its contrasts and patterns.
Good photo I like it ;)
ciakgiak (30409) 2009-02-04 3:39
while we are waiting for a new masterpiece, I've seen in your gallery this fantastic landscape, an incredible city with million colors. You are right, it seems a video game. Well done dear friend.
Have a great day.
mafegan (8624) 2009-05-28 21:57
A great photo filling the frame with so much minute detail. So many people living in such a small area. Tfs, Marlene
