Colourful trawler nets dangling onto the dockside at Shoreham Harbour after a night's fishing in The English Channel. The catch unloaded and this young opportunist seagull eyeing a piece of fish still stuck in the netting.

erano già belli i colori delle reti per trarne una foto di grande effetto. L'uccello che è andato a curiosare si è aggiunto in maniera perfetta per completare a perfezione la composizione.
Ciao e buon fine settimana

wow! What a composition! A nice and colourful one. Love the depth and sharpness of it. Great idea and nicely executed frame. Just love it with the bird there. A nice one indeed. Tfs.

this gull should protect his eyes with sun glasses to withstand the vivid and luminous colors of the nets !
Well in your line
Best regards, have a nice WE

There is a wild life series on NGC called 'Caught in the Act'. This splendid photo superbly fits into that theme.
Great work to catch this opportunistic bird at the right time and that too in superb light among bright colors.
Thanks for sharing.

The colours leap out of the frame here Brian! The purple and orange contrast so well and almost vibrate under the sunlight. A lovely close crop shot where the gull adds an extra interesting detail. Warm regards Rosemary

I like the different bold colors of the nets, and the seagull is also interested by the hues!
have a nice WE

Colourful and eye-catching. The low angled early morning light enhances the colours beautifully. The inclusion of the young gull is successful at turning the image into a story.

A colourful image full of charm. Ideally framed and captured under an excellent light. Love those vivid colours, which make a fine backdrop for the more muted tones of the gull's plumage. Very well observed and nicely presented. Have fine weekend.

wonderful shot. Interesting seascapes feature a lot in your work but this has to be one of the most colorful. The composition where the seagull plays an important role is excellent. My compliments!

What gaudy nets to brighten our day! It reminds me of a shot I posted from Portsmouth a year or so ago, but your inclusion of the seagull of course trumps it and makes this a stand-out. Good work.

a lovely colour combination with the inquisitive sea gull to add extra interest.
Very well spotted this one.
All the best Les.

This here is an eye catcher. Very nice and attractive photo with colorful nets and an addition: a seagull
jjcordier (79297) 2013-12-14 23:24
Belle capture! On a l'impression que la mouette est fascinée par les couleurs des filets mais c'est certainement plus par un reste de poisson qui y est accroché!

Je parle aussi en Francais! :) O.K., my writing in French sounds much better than actually speaking it!? ha
Quite a tangled web you've woven here, what a great shot though! I didn't know what to make of it at first sight from the smaller thumbnail size, but boy, is it colorful and immediately noticeable! It really does jump off the screen.
I thought the orange netting was perhaps spaghetti or a womans wig, but then I couldn't figure out what the bird had to do with anything...it made absolutely no sense from that initial glance. :)
Anyway, my warped mind aside, this is a wonderful and candid type of image that would go unnoticed by most. A keen eye and smart vision has turned out a delightful photo full of detail and color. Just don't feed the gull, he'll never leave!
Cheers from the States,

This is so you. It seems to me, judging from your gallery, you are in the look out for colors. Many of your images are very rich and deep in tone. I meant it as a complement. You have found your style, where some do just black and white, people, landscapes and so on. Where I have not really have a specific style or subject. I just do whatever I see as I travel and what caught my attention at the time.
This is really cool, with the rich colors of the next and nylon strings, the presence of the bird, seagull adds a natural element with strong contrast between the manufactured elements and nature.

Gidday dear Brian
Stop thief! Or is he maybe more interested with what goes inside those beautiful nets? The colours and textures are so magnetising and made even more so by the tight framing. The thief is an interesting and lighthearted addition, much more tasteful than some of the err...subjects that have been shown lately ;)
I can't remember which of your critiques had me in stitches, maybe JJ Noel or Jason's. But it made me howl with laughter
krzychu30 (15512) 2013-12-17 10:22
seagulls are really great "models" for photographers.
I like your creative approach to this shot!
Excellent close-up and frame. But the most I like this strong, graphical effect you achieved-colors and light interplay well together.

Beautiful composition with the colourful fishing nets and the gull so well placed. The sunlight helped a lot! Very good and eye catching shot!
