The Russian four masted barque KRUZENSHTERN or KRUSENSTERN, moored to the "Quai d'Alger" in the "Nouveau Bassin", during the celebration of the marine traditions ESCALE à SÈTE from 6 till 9 April 2012 in the port of Sète. The mast of Kruzenshtern, exceeds 51 meters.
It is a four masted barque built in 1926 in Bremerhaven-Wesermünde in Germany and became Russian in 1946, attached to the port of Kaliningrad, property of the USSR Ministry of Fisheries to be used as a schoolship for future fishery officers. With more than 114 meters in length and a tonnage of 4700 tons, she is the second biggest sailboat to the world after the Sedov. 3400 m² of sails require 140 people to maneuver, with a crew of 257 sailors.
SÈTE is a French municipality, in the Hérault department of Languedoc-Roussillon region, populated by 42 496 Sétois in 2009, spread over 24.2 km², 1 756 inhabitants/km².
In 1666 Pierre-Paul Riquet built the Canal du Midi connecting the Mediterranean to the Atlantic Ocean, following the will of king de France Louis XIV, creates the port of “Cette”.
The construction of the môle Saint-Louis, 750 meters length, begins on July 29th, 1666.
The city was founded in 1673, after the beginning of the construction of the port.
It is the town of artists like Paul Valéry, Georges Brassens, Manitas de Plata, Jean Vilar, the brothers Di Rosa.
Georges Charles Brassens, french poet song writer and performer, was born in Sète on October 22nd, 1921, and died in Saint-Gély-of-Fesc, Herault, on October 29th, 1981.

Bonjour Joël,
Le voilier est bien placé dans le cadrage. La distance entre le voilier et le navire donne d ela profondeur à la composition. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails et les couleurs du voilier. La bonne luminosité met en valeur les couleurs de l'image. Bonne journée.

Bonjour Joel,
J'aime beaucoup cette perspective. Elle semble rendre très effilée la forme du voilier. De plus la légère contre plongée utilise bien le ciel comme arrière plan.

A harbour perspective from pier level, show a great masts and ropes on an amazing sailship, Joel.
Distance to far side show more vessels on diff. shapes and sizes.
A "busy" picture, yet a wonderfuyl subject and the fine result achieved.

Ciao Joel,
hai fotografato dal basso per inserire giustamente tutta l'alberatura di questo magnifico veliero russo e il risultato è stato eccellente con gli alberi che si stagliano su un cielo blu terso, lasciando però intravedere la banchina, il porto e la poppa della nave italiana.
Un lavoro eccellente realizzato con maestria.

fantastique iamge quel cadrage de ce voilier avec à droite l'autre bâteau ce jeu de cordage quelle immensité cela donne par ton cadrage superbe ces mâts.

Les dimensions de la photo et le cadrage donnent de l'ampleur à ce géant des mers, les autres bateaux qu'on aperçoit dans le fond n'ont pas la même histoire ni le même charme !

Bonsoir Joel. This is a splendid series of the three photos of this sailing vessel. Perfect angle for this shot. I like the view of the harbor as well. I looked at your measurements for this vessel and was astonished. I have been on a large private sailboat that was 42 feet and it was huge and this ship is about three times longer. Wow. Il porto di Sete con due grosse navi da crociera .
Dalla Sardegna arrivavano qui navi con grandi quantità di vino a forte gradazione alcolica ....per rafforzare .
