"Le Noctilio", from Marseille, moored to the quay Général Durand along the Canal Royal during the festival ESCALE à SÈTE.

The sailboat Noctilio, schooner auric from a boat built in Norway in 1930, is used for cruises in Mediterranean Sea.

_ It was from 6 till 9 April 2012, the second ESCALE à SÈTE, celebration of the maritime traditions in Sète with the cooperation of numerous boats, traditional ream, lateen sails, big sailboats.

SÈTE is a French municipality, in the Hérault department of Languedoc-Roussillon region, populated by 42 496 Sétois in 2009, spread over 24.2 km², 1 756 inhabitants/km².

In 1666 Pierre-Paul Riquet built the Canal du Midi connecting the Mediterranean to the Atlantic Ocean, following the will of king de France Louis XIV, creates the port of “Cette”.
The construction of the môle Saint-Louis, 750 meters length, begins on July 29th, 1666.

The city was founded in 1673, after the beginning of the construction of the port.

It is the town of artists like Paul Valéry, Georges Brassens, Manitas de Plata, Jean Vilar, the brothers Di Rosa.

Georges Charles Brassens, french poet song writer and performer, was born in Sète on October 22nd, 1921, and died in Saint-Gély-of-Fesc, Herault, on October 29th, 1981.

Salut Joel,je suis tombe' amoureux de ce port,quelles magnifique facades sur le canal,un peu Venice,un peu Gens et un peu Copenhague,composition super avec la meilleure qualite' comme d'habitude.Mes compliments et belle journee',Luciano

Tu t'es régalé à cette fête et tu nous régales par ces belles photos que tu partages avec nous. Le vent n'était peut-être pas idéal pour les badauds mais il a drôlement bien dégagé le ciel!

Tu n'étais pas tout seul à profiter du spectacle. Un cliché attractif avec de belles nuanaces de bleus entre la mer et le ciel.

J'aime beaucoup ces deux belle diagonales qui se rejoignent très loin dans l'image et qui lui donne beaucoup de profondeur. La journée est belle et beaucoup de monde en profite.

Beautiful 1930 sails-ship sure to draw the attention of by-passers, as it is anchored along the nice promenede.
Slight darkness on the facades, but the view is owesome.

Hello Joel - I love the combination of blue and white and in this shot the balance is good and the coloured pennants on the boat and peoples' clothing adds a nice lively accent to the palette. Excellent composition with good converging perspective but above all a lovely scene! TFS and have a great weekend. Rosemary

For some reason this scene reminds me alot of Copenhagen in Denmark.
Love the classical architecture along each side, and the open water in the middle. lots of activity and life in the scene.
and despite the lack of clouds, the bright blue sky doesn't overpower the image.

Bonsoir Joël,

La distance entre le voileir et le pont donne de la profondeur à l'image. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails et les couleurs des immeubles. La qualité de la lumière fait ressortir les couleurs. Bonne soirée.

Dommage qu'on ne voie pas les voiles auriques, même si, depuis ce soir, je sais ce que c'est ;0) C'était apparemment jour de grand vent à Sète, à en juger par la surface de l'eau et les drapeaux : en récompense, un beau ciel bleu, très pur et très lumineux !

Hi Joel,

You're capturing well this harbor scene by a good composition and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see sails-ship moored to the quay and houses of the both sides of a port. It's impressive in the blue contrast of bay and sky, too. And, people gathering in a harbor draw out well the atmosphere of festival.

A wonderful blue sky with nice skylight reflections in the water. Good sharpness & the promenade at left adds perspective & the people provide scale and the red attire a nice warm cold color contrast. The yacht makes a good central focal point. Bon Dimanche!
