Sapa, in Northern Vietnam near the Chinese border, differs from the rest of the country because of its mountainous character and its diverse ethnic background.
The region is home to many tribes such as H’mong and Dzao, which migrated from China centuries ago. Some of them still don't speak Vietnamese.
This lady escorted us during the whole trekking we had in the countryside of Sapa, sometimes under the rain, with her baby-girl on her back.
The little one seemed quite amused with the only toy she had at that time: a rice stick.
Cropped, applied sepia, gradual toning and local burn.

What an image...
No words to describe this...
Great eye contact and very innocent face of the child..Beautiful sepia tone..upper portion is bit over exposed, but still it is a very strong image.
Have a nice day,

A high class image, Erdem !
Congratulations ! The soft light is perfect, as well as the composition. The sepia choice is also perfect.

A very impressive and evocative photo - the pale sepia conversion is very suitable for portraying this quite delicate image. The two figures look quite vulnerable. I like the tall pointing leaves to the woman's right, and the way the image fades towards the top - I don't mind the over-exposure. It looks as though the woman just turned around to look at the camera at that very moment, and the baby too! Lovely picture.

a beautiful shot of this mother and her baby in their field; the sepia rendering has worked really well here.

more than the subject itself i quite admire the logic and aesthetics behind the pp, the visualization sets the tone and charm, the encounters often are more than just meeting them in the eye, isnt it ? - a few words exchanged and it is all worth it..the photo is but only a small fragment of the time and space that surrounds you..small..
take care mate

Hi, this is yet another brilliant photo contribution to TE. I noticed that your photos have unusual softness to them. at times I feel that a lot depend on what kind of person you are that also reflects a bit in your work.

The sepia gives this a timeless feeling. The expression of the moment is beautifully captured, with the composition in thirds working well, especially with the light - which, is like their destination as such.

Hello again Erdem,
Well, this is almost the opposite of the other shot I just commented on. This is very subtle work, great eye to eye contact, a very gentle picture. Great also how you included the blades in the corner. Here's another thumbs up from me.

Fascinating sepia tone to make this portrait all the more interesting. The mother and child duo speaks clearly about the culture and ethos of the Viet people.
