Many areas of Santiago felt like I was walking onto a painters palette. The bright colors and the vibrant ranges were seemingly at each street corner.
It was surprisingly difficult to find someone to walk by into the scene. I'm not sure where all the people went but it was a ghost town in this part of the city. It took a long time for this one lady to become apart of the photo.
Hope you like it
I added 2 photos in the WS too

Street scenes are always interesting, especially with a mural on the wall instead of that nasty graffiti which is nothing but vandalism. A pedestrian on the sidewalk is nice to see as well because now we can tell just how big everything else is in the photo.

Well-spotted! Great idea to include a human figure in the frame - patience rewarded. :)

contrast and clarity is good too.
it is a nice concept.

This looks so well done I get a feeling it's officially sanctioned to beautify the area. If that is the case it's interesting that the local politicians would give the job to graffiti painters. Maybe they are just cheaper than established artists. In any case this probably looks a lot better than before, when I suppose it was all grey and dull. You surprise me a bit by waiting on purpose for someone to step into the picture ;-).

Cool art! It looks like a battle between a maniacal fisherman, and an equally maniacal fish!! I see there is more to this mural on the right; I can only imagine what that scene might be... Nice job waiting for the woman to walk by. She looks so calm next to that animated art!
EstudioChispa (2144) 2013-08-13 11:59
All three of these walls are fantastic, Craig, but this one is certainly the showpiece. We have made friends in La Paz, Baja, who have family in Santiago, so some day we hope to visit there. It looks like it will be an exciting trip!

Funny scene, well taken with the lady, perfect sharpness and colors, congratulations for the artist.
ktanska (25933) 2013-08-13 12:31
Wow, that's a big one! And quite talented too. Makes me wonder what kind of fish the painter imagined that to be. Yeshuman presence makes this more interesting, though I don't find it essential on this case.

It was worth waiting for a person to walk into your picture.
An excellent mural.Someone was very clever to achieve this standard of work.
T.F.S.It made me smile!

la tua pazienza è stata ripagata da un bellissimo scatto, molto belli anche gli scatti del ws, tutti molto colorati.
La signora è perfettamente inquadrata e la sua figura contrasta molto bene con il disegno.

Love street art, this is a creative local artist, good to wait for a person to walk in front , helps with contrast
Prefer it at the ones in the WS
Greetings, well done
I saw once an advertising for food for dogs with a dog, choose the right angle and wait and wait for a dog to go in front till the sun was gone and there was only shadows

Hi Craig !!
The photo is great....... it shows quite a scene.... perhaps a modern Opera !!!
I know that the city of Valparaiso has a reputation for wall murals..... looks like it is now spreading to Santiago.
Great capture ( horizontal view for a change !!!! )

what awesome color!! Perfect light and exposure, madly nice detail and I am glad you waited for a person to stroll by. The artwork on the buildings is... different, but ever so well done. The windows and pedestrian add a touch of reality to a preeeeeettty strange view. :)) Fun shot! Many thanks and kind regards,

What a superb piece of wall art Craig. Brilliantly captured detail, the shot benefits from the figure you waited for. Warm regards Rosemary

Superbe cette façade en peinture, un coté amusant du pécheur et la prise du poisson, belle créativité les deux autres en WS vont le coup d'il aussi, j'aime beaucoup

Hi Craig, I do not believe my eyes and what I read. You waited for someone to walk in the composition???? But it was worth waiting. The girls give real and human touch to it. I saw many graffiti in Valparaiso but not in Santiago. Stunning view. Even the windows are a bit included. They could paint also a pavement, it would be even more funny. I like this fisherman.

Interesting street scene. The artwork makes the atmosphere more enjoyable. Well, the advantage of empty streets is better photos:P.

That is one intense piece of street art, and a very talented artist that created it! Excellent and slightly disturbing image, and a brilliant additiopn to the street. I like that you included the lady there too so we can see the scale of the painting. Nice one!
All the best
Sergiom (67592) 2013-08-14 5:54
On est loin du graffiti de ville et on est plus près de l'oeuvre d'art que l'on ne veut absolument pas effacer. La marcheuse est bien intégrée dans l'ensemble.
cjmm (4479) 2013-08-14 8:32
Nice one and I agree with others critiques about the inclusion of that person in the frame. I like very much the vibrant colors.
tyro (22188) 2013-08-14 14:54
This is a remarkable piece of street art - as are the images in your two workshop pictures too - in fact that artistry is so good I think it would be churlish simply to call it graffiti. And I'm sure that this work has done much to brighten up what might otherwise have been a very dull and dingy street.
I like the fact that you waited to include the lady walking past as she definitely adds to the composition and she's well placed in the frame too.
Gorgeous vibrant colours and lovely bright lighting, perfect exposure and exquisite details and sharpness.
jcpix (13816) 2013-08-14 16:55
With so much blue in this shot, it was an immediate draw for me from the thumbnail....and to see it on a larger scale is even better! What kind of mind comes up with this sort of work? Who knows, and it doesn't matter...I love it, that's some good talent! I had just commented to Malgo that we both seem to avoid people in most of our shots, but I'm glad you waited this one out to include the lady seen here. Even without seeing any kind of facial expression, I'm amazed at how much her presence adds to the image.
So much to take in from this wall, it really is some impressive artwork...definitely makes one stop and notice. Great eye once again to bring even the emptiest of streets to life. Great clarity and detail as always. Thanks for bringing us some of the character of Santiago.
annjackman (20963) 2013-08-14 23:03
I can see why you waited for someone to enter the frame as it adds some contrasting normality to the crazy wall painting! She is nicely positioned in a the blue area. Very sharp with great colour - love it.
Kind Regards, Ann

Sensational POV of this curious and attractive, street murals, perfect sharpness and superbly painting you've moved to the picture, very successful include the lady to give us the idea of the size of the walls.
The eaves of the house and part of the roof is a very nice touch.
Superb brightness, sharpness and beautiful colors.
Have a good day.

You upload your photos quicker than I can look at them :-)
Beautiful presentation of this graffiti. Tha idea to wait for someone was excellent.
The presence of the person gives new dimension to your composition. Wonderful effect!

Seems they have great artists there! This one is really beautiful and the little house also. I like it with the woman passing in front. A good shot, with great colours.
The Ws are very good, too!

I had a look at your pictures of Santiago and found this one very appealing.
Wonderful with the street art around the windows and the passerby who nevertheless obstructs nothing of the view.
Is this picture taken in Barrio Brasil (in the vicinity of the Museo de la Memoria y los Derechos Humanos)?
Best regards, Paul
