Some may recognize the pattern and diminishing perspective from this structure almost instantly, but if not, I’ll give you an easy clue…it’s the tallest, most recognizable and well known San Francisco building because of its triangular design. If that doesn’t give it away, I’ve included a WS picture that should do the trick.
Oh, who am I kidding, I can’t keep a secret…it’s the famous Transamerica Pyramid, seen in just about every skyline picture ever taken of the “City by the Bay.” :) A source of great pride to locals, the building has become an icon of San Francisco recognized worldwide, along with the city's famous cable cars and the Golden Gate Bridge.
The building's façade is covered in crushed quartz, giving the exterior a bright color. It also boasts 3,678 windows…don’t quite think I got all of ‘em in this frame though. Don’t stare at it too long however, it’ll make your eyes bug out. lol
Thanks for stopping by.

60 views and nothing???
Well, let me be the first, who will appreciate your brilliant work!
Love it,Love it,Love it!!!
To be honest-I´d never guessed it´s Transamerica Pyramid(even if I´ve never been to S.F the building is well known and often seen on other pictures). But your vision of it,close-up and finally upward perspective have made it truly spectacular!
Pure artistry my friend!
PS.the WS picture is also great-what kind of lens did you use there?
Have a nice friday

One of my favourite Cities and a building that never ceases to inspire and impress me, no matter how many times I see it. It is one of the many iconic symbols of SF and I have to admit I have never managed a shot like this, so well done mate! Lots of wonderful symmetry and patterns here - it looks like a huge climbing frame from this angle, or in my twisted imagination a load of open robotic mouths!
Have a good one big guy - BeeDee

Only after reading your note, surprisingly realized which building/tower is on, jason.
Fine view upwards, the returning pattern well collected, good clear image.
Have a nice Friday,

Je suis très friand de ce genre de photographie. La contre plongée est parfaitement utilisée et le cadrage est parfait pour donner un effet de profondeur.

great the tight frame with the created pattern to be the eye catching of the scene.I like the excellent presentation with the light and the colour management to enhance the beauty as the repeted pattern of it.

I like this one with a very graphical pattern
have a nice WE, best regards

I don't know if staring makes my eyes bug out, but it makes me forget what I'm looking at. I find myself thinking that this could be the pattern of a carpet, or a bird's eye view of a huge office with stylized clerks sitting at their desks in a German movie from the 30's. I totally lose the sense of windows and walls. A very interesting and mesmerizing photo.
ourania (27060) 2014-03-21 12:33
this is a fine graphical picture, staring is irresistible and so is scrolling up and down (up, mostly:) The patterns are very well defined and illuminated, the graphical presentation is enhanced by the careful tight cropping and has retained an intriguing naturalness too. I like very much how the three neat patterns at the bottom of the frame gradually multiply and give the impression that they are endless. Congratulations and thank you! The building is amazing, what a gift to photographers!
All the best, have a great weekend,

bellissimo grafismo, sembra quasi un b&w.
L'impatto visivo è immediato, colpisce l'originalità dell'inquadratura e il susseguirsi delle geometrie.

This is an excellent sequel to a fabulous photo. I'm loving it!
PS. The flight wasn't that bad, the seats were comfortable and I slept most of the way.
subhendu_bagchi (25308) 2014-03-22 4:14
it is purely a geometric view which is full with many graphical effects. I love your presentation with great sharpness and fine depth. I also like your chosen POV. A nice minimal composition indeed. Tfs.

One of the things that always struck me in your gallery is your skill in shooting subjects in new ways, and once again I tip my hat to you good sir. I would never have guessed this was that building, even though as a long distance skyscraper fan, I have always liked this building very much. A unique and creative vision on a global icon. Really nicely done.
Cheers as always!

Like this shot a lot! Your focus on the texture presentation is great and created brilliant visual effect. Well seen and composed. TFS!

Quite an amazing pattern you have found on this structure indeed. I have my pictures of the pyramid in SFO as well but it never occurred to me to see it in that way. Great idea indeed.
have a great sunday
ACL1978 (7467) 2014-03-22 19:29
Hi Jason - nice slice of the building to present here. I wouldn't have recognized it from the shot, though of course it's one of the country's most recognizable buildings. This shot, and the way you've presented it, is exacting and level, yet the off center quality keeps it off balance enough to make what could have been a static geometric shot more dynamic. Really well done and well cropped.
COSTANTINO (51850) 2014-03-22 22:28
Hello dear friend
a different shot from the usuals
symmetry with patterns in sepia
nobody could understand that this
composition is concerning the
facade of the most recognizable
and well known San Francisco
have a pleasant Sunday

so this is the 2nd installment in the Bourne Trilogy!
I can never remember which is which in that movie series, I wish thay'd just called it Bourne I,II,III lol
Oh yeah, this was certainly on my hit-list when walking the streets of SF. Have the exact same shot.
Imagine being a window washer here! Oh man that'd be tough. thats a job where i bet you can find plenty of job openings!
when i move the screen up and down it gets really funky!! smart shot, love these types.
and i like how you fit the 3 windows perfectly along the bottom - thats important.
emka (73729) 2014-03-23 23:15
Hi Jason, It is magnificent shot. I am in awe how you composed it. Brilliant picture. There is something Escheresque in it. Amazing how one can show the well known object in such a creative way.
Warm regrads MAlgo
kwekwekan (1022) 2014-03-24 7:14
A unique take on a famous building - it is not often that a skyscraper is presented solely for its pattern and texture. The result is very original. The crop also gives the image the feel of one of those tromp d'oeil fake maze pictures that seem to shift shapes depending on which way you look at it. Congrats on achieving this effect!
fabbs99 (16069) 2014-03-24 21:58
Nice patterns as always.Excellent colors, sharpness and tone.Very well captured my friend.TFS.

Tout simplement superbe, un POV et cadrage qui donne de l'originalité et un bel effet graphique, bravo pour le coup d'œil, superbe aussi l'architecture en entier du bâtiment en WS
Belle soirée mon ami Amérique :-)
