Rome – Auditorium
Auditorium Parco della Musica is a large multi-functional public music complex in Rome.
The complex is situated in the north of the city, in the area where the 1960 Summer Olympic Games were held.
Parco della Musica was designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano. Jürgen Reinhold from Müller-BBM was in charge of acoustics in the three concert halls; Franco Zagari was landscape architect for the outdoor spaces.
The three large concert halls are Sala Petrassi, in memory of Goffredo Petrassi, about 700 seats; Sala Sinopoli, in memory of Giuseppe Sinopoli, about 1200 seats; and Sala Santa Cecilia, about 2800 seats. They are structurally separated to ensure soundproofing, though joined at the base by a continuous lobby. A fourth "concert hall", called Cavea, is the open air theater recalling ancient Greek and Roman theaters. The fan-shaped layout is formed around the central piazza.
Structures have several nicknames such as blobs, beetles, scarabs, turtles, insect carapaces, computer mice.
During construction, excavations uncovered the foundations of a villa and oil press dating from sixth century BC. Renzo Piano redesigned the facility to accommodate the archaeological remains and included a small museum to house the artifacts that were discovered. Such changes delayed the project by a year.
The Parco della Musica was formally inaugurated on 21 December 2002; in few years it became the Europe's most visited music facility, with over one million spectators in one year.
The Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia is located at the Parco della Musica.

A lovely photograph and a very inteersting note to accompany it. Isn't it interesting that there really has not been much change in the design of auditoria in over 2,000 years? Obviously the Romans got the design absolutely right all those years ago!
This is a beautifully composed shot in which you have used not only the lines of the walls and seating but also the diagonal line of the shadow so effectively. The light and colours are delightful, your exposure perfect and the details and sharpness are exquisite.

Truly interesting details!
Very attractive picture!
Sharpness, management of light, colors, vertical format, chosen pov and composition really pleased me!
TFS - congrats,

Votre photo me fait découvrir un autre lieu intéressant de Rome. Point de vue bien choisi pour nous présenter l'ensemble de cet auditorium et son théâtre extérieur. Note intéressante.

Ciao Romano, You discover for us very interesting, less known places in Rome. After the Stadium, this time the impressive Parco della Musica. Is it still used for concerts? It looks a bit abandoned, anyway, I haven't heard about this place. I remember this Olympic Games. Polish team did quite well. It was more than a half century ago.

Ciao Caro Romano,
I'm sure it would be difficult to excavate anywhere in Rome, without coming across the remains of some interesting, previous building. It is such a wonderfully ancient place!
I love the idea of these music halls, especially one that is outside, imitating the style of the ancient Greek theatres.
This is an excellent photograph. You use the linear features as guides around the frame, with contrasting light and the focal structure strongly placed, off-centre.
The exposure is pin-sharp.
Have a lovely day,

A well composed image, using the graphical lines offered by the architecture to full effect. The light was ideal to bring out the detail and create some interesting shadow play. Excellent colours and clarity.

an impressive looking arena this. Nice to know that the 1960 Olympic games passed a legacy down for future generations to enjoy these places. Excellent composition, clarity and light make this an attractive and compelling Roma image.

Tes dernières photos nous montrent que Rome à plusieurs côtés. Ici le côté moderne donne de belles opportunités de photos graphiques surtout avec ce ciel et cette lumière.

Very striking treatment, i love especially the curvy layout leads smoothly extending the depth and perspective to the prominent structure. An effective composition in its full glory with the cracking detail, rich colour and strong repeated lines and shapes. The clouds create a custom white balance to clinch the shot. Great work seamlessly. TFS

Very nice POV to show this beautiful place! Excellent colors and sharpness! And an excellent light management even with the shadow on the scene! Great job!

interesting to hear this building became so popular with locals and tourists, with over 1 Million people.
strange to see the stands like this, are they often full of people during events?
love the rustic look of the structure at the top, its not the typical Rome style so i'm sure it stands out well.
fun subject to photograph, well presented.

A fig vertical format to present this big building, good to discover different places of Roma
Good note, truly informative about roman arquitecture and the work of Renzo Piano
Capture with good POV and where you managed to show the scene, the seats in a curve giving so perspective
Like the contrast , well managed, od shadows and lights
Well done, congrats

A well composed image. It has a good lead line using the fence to take our eye into the shot. The curves of the seats allow us to follow through to the fantastic building which I would like to take photo of myself. The shape of this unusual building is also mirrored to some extent by the cloud on the left of the sky. Great image.

I love the place and the composition. I admire the postprocessing work.
