Roman cuisine is based on seasonal ingredients coming most from Roman Campagna, and prepared in a simple way. Among these, the most important are vegetables (typical are peas, globe artichokes and fava beans), meat (milk lamb and goat) and cheeses (Pecorino romano and ricotta). Typical condiment in Roman cuisine is strutto, pork lard prepared and canned each winter. Used is also the fat of prosciutto, while olive oil is used only for raw vegetables and - partially - to fry. Days of the week are often assigned to food, such as gnocchi on Thursday, baccalà (salted cod) on Fridays, and trippa for Saturdays.

I like this composition very much. It has few colours and not so many details but I enjoy such parts as the sign below, the flowers and the stained spots to the left. The spots may not be so beautiful, but they break the pattern and I enjoy the inclusion of something less than perfect. It could mean that these people care more for more important things in life than keeping their façade perfectly clean'Best regards,

ces deux fenêtres dont une fleurie et l'autre fermée de par ses volets, la couleur de la façade et le vert de la bache assorti au vert des fleurs
Highmountains (2255) 2012-10-26 14:08
Excellent composition. The two windows, the one at the top is open and there are beautiful plants and flowers, that are a contrast ot the saffron colour of the wall.
The depth and clarity of the photograph is wonderful and establishes the mood or 'feel' of the picture.
Thanks for sharing.

Ho fame dalla tua nota! Hai assaggiato la famosa porchetta di Roma? Troppo buonaaaa! Ottimo questo close-up, i colori forti e taglio stretto accentuano la tessitura e l'atmosfera storica. Ottimo lavoro.

Sounds real mouthwatering your note. And your close cropped detail of the restaurant with beautiful colors suits it very well. Great framing and the concentration on the important makes this composition work.

This great shot, a very well observed street scene. A simple view but it is just that simplicity that makes it so attractive and compelling. Delightful with its pleasant pastel tones and elements and captured superbly. Well done.

This is so indicative of the Mediterranean style, of which I can never get enough. I love the colors, the textures and everything about these kinds of images. It's so different than what I generally experience in daily life and brings to mind such great memories of the region. Splendid presentation!
