Photographer's Note

Old tuna fish factory of Porto Paglia, , in the Gulf of Lions, a few miles from Gonnesa, in the southwestern coast of Sardinia, was formed in the late sixteenth century by decision of Philip II , King of Spain, designed by the merchant, from Genoa or Spanish , Porta, who after studying the tuna way , introduced into the system of tuna fishing the plant room.
The accommodation of the crew stood on the hill adjacent to the tuna fishery, while the tuna processing plants occurred in the island of San Pietro.
After many steps from the Spanish crown to the crown of Savoy and finally to private cooperatives, the tuna fishery begins its decline in 1866 due to pollution of mines planted in the area of Buggerru the late '800.
In 1964 it was purchased by a cooperative of fishermen but the situation did not improve and in 1978 the property passed into the hands of insolvency administrators..
The nets were lowered for the last time in 1973, then the buildings were abandoned.
Between 1980 and 1991 fishermen's cottages were converted into a modern holiday resort. and summer houses.

Of great interest in the Porto Paglia the ancient church of the fishermen, directly accessible from the sea, on a rock outcropping to the sea ; the boats can be moored to the quay of the little churchyard.

Archaeological survey of the village "Seruci" of Nuragic era, always a few kilometers from Porto Paglia.
