It was tempting to make this picture with this beautiful panorama ... I admit it is unimaginative but why not share the cliché ?
Porto (Portuguese: Porto, pronounced [poɾtu]) is a city in Portugal 237 559 inhabitants and about 1.8 million in the Greater Porto (2011 figures), making it the second largest city in the country after Lisbon. Both cities have often competed in the past. She is known for port wine, its monuments and bridges over the Douro. Porto, by its history of the wine trade with the UK, seems to have been influenced by this country and an important commercial activity. An adage evokes the character of the different Portuguese cities: 'While Lisbon is beautiful, Coimbra studies, Braga prays and Porto worked.

Portugal is such a wonderful country,no pictures of the beautiful land and sea scapes could be called unimaginative. We have had a superb holiday there in the past, and in fact one of my sons and his wife are there at the moment.I like your P.O.V.which includes the bridge in the background. Best Wishes

Bonjour Jean Philippe ,

Hello Jean Philippe
It is interesting to see how much Porto has changed since I walked along the river front nearly 38 years ago, when Portugal was visibly poorer than it is today, and Port was much less clean and cared for. Well, as I remember anyway. Nevertheless, the Sandeman Port sign was there, and the same interesting buildings on the slopes, which have probably had more than one coat of paint since then.
I like your panoramic photo, which is well exposed and was taken from a well chosen viewpoint. It looks especially fine in the higher resolution version - superbly sharp and with lovely colours - and even fits on my screen! Well done.

Bonjour Jean Philippe,
Marvelous river and town, the Ribeira district on foreground, and the wineries along the waterfront on the other side of Villanova-de-Gaia district.
Great sharp image, light was super, and good depth downstream to the Ponto-de- Arrabida.
I enjoyed very much my three days stay in Porto, on 10/2010 - love the place.
