Photographer's Note

The marina of Mikrolimano, Piraeus. At the distance suburbs Palaio Faliro, Alimos, Voula, Argyroupoli, Ano Glyfada.
The mountain is Hymettus. Here is some information on this wonderful and beloved mountain from Wikipedia:

Hymettus, also Hymettos (pronounced /haɪˈmɛtəs/ in English, Greek: Υμηττός, transliterated Ymīttós, pronounced [imiˈtos]) is a mountain range in the Athens area, East Central Greece. It is also colloquially known as Trellós or Trellóvouno (crazy mountain), a name of uncertain origin. In antiquity there was a sanctuary to Zeus Ombrios (Zeus the Rain God) on the summit with numerous offerings dating especially to the 8th-7th centuries BC; they are on the site of a military base and not currently accessibe. There is also an ancient quarryman's hut on the western slopes of the mountain, one of two buildings in ancient Attika which preserves its roof.

The height is 1,026 m at Evzonas and the length is 16 km (9.9 mi) between Athens and the Saronic Gulf and 6 to 7 km from east to west. [...]
A transmitter park for all major TV and radio stations is located at the top of the mountain. Built up urban areas almost surround the entire mountain range. Access to the top of the mountain is restricted to authorized vehicles for maintenance of the towers.

Almost all of Athens, its eastern suburbs and the new airport can be seen from the mountain top along with the mountains of Parnitha to its northwest, Penteli to its north and Aegaleo to its west. The valley areas that create the lowest passes are to the south and one further south.

Hello Ourania,

Now you've revealed the whole picture. And this perfectly satisfies the viewer's curiosity and introduces new elements to dig deeper. The most important aspect of this compsoition is its deep perspective, starting with the subtle reflections, going further with the beautiful boats and finally ending with the nebulous white town leaning against the Hymettus. The boats are very well laid out in the composition, the zigzagged placement breaks out the routine and brings a positive dynamism to the scenery. This is an almost duo-color (blue and white) picture just like the Greek flag and even the tiny red things like the buoys and the banner are so eyecatching. A lovely contribution my friend. Obiettivo più largo e vista allargata con la quale ci mostri l'intero porto con le barche ormeggiate i cui riflessi creano un bell'effetto sulla superficie dell'acqua.
Mi piace molto la resa dei colori, soprattutto il blu intenso dell'acqua, ed il taglio in verticale, perfetto nel caso di questa situazione. Complimenti.

I greci grandi traduttori dall'aramaico, ma per cercare vocaboli "più conformi alla bellezza" due religioni cristiane.

Fabulous image, with this plane on the prows of the boats and their reflections, more open than the previous post, has a wonderful POV, with the city in the background and mountains behind, I love the beautiful color of the sea, as well as its lights and reflections, as emerging from the palette of a painter.
Very good the management of light, with optimal sharpness and beautiful colors very natural.

Hello Ourania,

A fascinating note about Hymettus and a lovely photograph to illustrate it. So are these buildings we see in the distance part of the suburbs of Athens itself?

The reflections in the deep blue water are the first things which capture the eye when we look at this lovely photograph. I love how the reflections of the boats and their ropes "ripple" with the little waves. The lighting on the boats too is wonderful and contrasts well with the lighter distant view.

Beautiful colours, lovely lighting, perfect exposure and stunning sharpness.

άλλη μια όμορφη πλευρά της μαρίνας του Μικρολίμανου με τα ιστιοφόρα να έχουν τοποθετηθεί σωστά το κάδρο και με τις αντανακλάσεις τους να συμπληρώνουν το σκηνικό.Η Υμηττός στο βάθος δυστυχώς αποψιλομένος από τις φωτιές, φιγουράρει και κλείνει την κατά τα άλλα ενδιαφέρουσα φωτογραφία.
