Old town perspective, Pécs
Pécs is one of the most important intellectual, spiritual, cultural and economic centres of Southern Transdanubia. Combined with its priceless heritage sites, its lively cultural scene, theatres and museums, and the surrounding holiday resorts make the town a popular tourist centre.
First named Sopianae, the settlement came under the authority of the Roman Empire in 10 BC. The early Christian period of Sopianae is preserved by the Early Christian Necropolis uncovered in the area in front of the current Cathedral around the former Mons Sacrum (Sacred Hill). This unique heritage complex was entered onto the World Heritage Sites.
The first Hungarian king, St Stephen, established the bishopric and the cathedral of Pécs in a charter dated 23rd August 1009 in Győr. The first Hungarian university was founded here by the Anjou King Louis I the Great in 1367. The period between 1459 and 1472 was the era of Bishop Janus Pannonius and the flowering of Renaissance culture in Pécs. This spirit can still be traced in the features in the town centre, a district that is made even more special by the numerous characteristic buildings surviving from the Turkish times.
The most famous of the major factories in Pécs is the Zsolnay Porcelain Manufacture. The world-famous products made in this works over the past century can be seen not only in the local Zsolnay Museum, but are also decorating numerous public spaces.
A plenitude of museums safeguards the town's historic remains in addition to the heritage buildings. Several contemporary fine arts collections enrich the list of things to see and do in the town, among which are galleries dedicated to world famous artists of Hungarian origin like Victor Vasarely or Amerigo Tot. Hello George,
Another well chosen point of view; the I like the graphical detail to be observed in the façade and the repeating motifs of the elegant lamps. The image is nicely lit and has good colours and sharpness. The tree on the right makes an attractive frame nicely contrasting the golden tones of the architecture.

Hi George,

A nice perspective with a long row of lamps and the façade changing colours halfway through. The man at the right side is a small but important addition to the composition.
Kind regards,

Hi George
its fantastic that you can turn this structure on its side and compose this scene. its actually very hard to compose on a side angle like this, as its easy to leave out or cut subjects off.
having said that, it still looks so visually attractive with the depth and warm sunlight. the man at the end really helps give us perspective.
well done
cheers

Hi George!
Wonderful details on those façades!
Truly attractive picture!
Sharpness, exposure, chosen pov, dof, colors, horizontal format, contrasts and black & white borders are all excellent features here, but the composition is my favorite one, in which I really like the inclusion of that right side of this image, with the man, trees etc.
TFS - congrats,
Cheers,

Hello George,
I do like POVs accentuating repeating shapes in architectual shots and this picture certainly has it. The lamps stand out wonderfully aganist the mellow colours of the building. The man in the picture is a good addition to this excellent image.

Hi Gorge
An eyecatching architectural design in good perspective that really standout in soft colors. Love your view point, strong on detail, textures and the ornate stonework is fascinating with lots of charm. I like this interpretation of perspective, the long pavement and decorated wall lightings guide the eyes through smoothly boosting the effect considerably. Clarity is good with excellent tones and great sharpness, a very pleasing to the eye. Brilliant capture, magnificent architecture. Congrats
Best regards
