Photographer's Note

St. Mark's Parish was organized on December 12, 1853, and is the oldest church in Palatka. Records show, however, that Episcopal services were conducted here as early as 1846. Construction on the building was begun in the Spring of 1854 and the first service held later that year. The Bronson House nearby was also built in 1854. Judge Isaac Bronson, along with 18 others, including Judge James Burt and William D. Moseley, first governor of Florida, made up the committee who decided to build this house of worship. Its Carpenter Gothic styling was used for many other churches in this area.

A very good use of the light on this church. The angle of the shot with the framing by the tree is quite interesting. The colors on this blue sky are splendid and the image has great sharpness.

The trees are framing well the church. The corner point of view is showing a double perspective of St-Mark church. the late afternoon light is bringing out the beauty of the colors. Have a nice day.

Love the clean chrisp lines of this charming withe chapel and how well they along with the red roof contrast with the vivid blue sky.
The giant oak renders tranquil shadows on this lovely scene.

This is a fine capture of the old wooden church. Well chosen angle for the shot makes this nice composition with the bell tower placed in a good position in the frame. Some days ago a wooden church from 1760 burned down in Norway, a sad story. It might have been saved if they had installed an automatic sprinkler system. Let`s hope at least that the security of this church has been taking care of in a good way.
