Morro Bay, Morro Rock and sailboats combined in this view for a balmy winter morning. Morro Rock rises 576 feet above the sea level and Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo and crew in 1542 were the first Europeans to see it. The smooth waters of Morro Bay are man made by placing rock fill between Morro Rock and the beach, blocking the northern opening to the bay.
Abalone gathering was popular long ago, but over fishing decimated their numbers. Today boat fishermen venture outside the Bay to catch halibut, sole, rockfish, albacore, etc.
There are a number of hotels and restaurants available for tourists in town, overlooking Morro Bay.

Beautiful capture. Great composition and color. Liked the height of boats in descending order from center. reflection on blue water is splendid. Great work.

I am here today .... however there is a fog and the rock is covered at the top. I thought of posting a photo myself as I took about 10 here. Took my grandson to see the seals at the small aquarium near this shot. You have much richer water tones than I - more color. Maybe I will post mine ... however you have done so much better.

Great scene here, almost 3D in its effect with the depth you achieved placing the boats here in front of the great natural background. Beautiful reflections too. Its funny that this scene reminds me of a scene of sea based warfare from ancient Greece, as the old ships all faced into land, ready to pillage and burn. Nice that this scene is for something much more peaceful and civilized!
All the best

Gidday dear MorroRay
The vibrant blue tones here are the winner for me, closely followed by the symmetry of those silvery reflections. You positioned the islet well, slightly off-centre, with excellent rule of thirds framing. A really beautiful photo, congrats.

I think we photographed this world famous rock from the same spot. I thought about visiting Morro Bay again and hoping for a clear morning or sunset but the California weather is so unpredictable. Good pov and good lighting control. Well done, tfs.

An outstanding photo: The balance of the composition, lovely reflections, the symmetry, the more real than life colors all combine to make this a very appealing photo.
