The Bourguiba Family Mausoleum is one of the main attractions of Monastir. It was built in 1963 and later expanded. The former Tunisian president and his family rest here. This huge and beautiful marble building with a gold dome has two 20 metre tall minarets flanking its sides.
The mausoleum of Habib Bourguiba, includes the tomb of the first president of Tunisia, who would have much affection Tunisians, and his own life in 1963 began building his own grave, who died in 2000, being buried here. Later his wife and parents pass away, who hasn also buried here. The structure is very reminiscent of a mosque image because the golden dome is flanked by two towering minarets. This mausoleum is located next to the cemetery in Monastir dating from the twelfth century, and next to the Marina and Ribat of Monastir. Personally Inside the mausoleum of Habib Bourguiba was one of the monuments that impressed me throughout Tunisia. The mausoleum was built in life of President Habib Bourguiba, and is the same style as many buildings of the time (60) with white marble dome towering minarets and decorated in gold. What catches the attention of all is the large white marble tomb on containing the remains of the first president of Tunisia who died in 2000.
Habib Bourguiba (1903-2000) is an iconic figure in Tunisia. I visited the famous mausoleum in Monastir Habib Bourguib with traditional architecture with its golden dome and two minarets 25 meters high monument curiously reminiscent of the Taj Mahal in simplified course! You can also admire the front door and the gate are two fine examples of Tunisian art. Next to this building, one can see a large cemetery.
The sea in the city where he ended the life of 'now former president Boughiba that gave the' Independence from the French was created to remember a splendid mausoleum, imposing the walk from the castle to get a huge tree-lined avenue with palm trees, and right a graveyard of white Islamic tombs. The mausoleum is richly decorated with beautiful mosaics and examples of Islamic art really interesting.Habib Bourguiba Mausoleum now it has become tourist destination and place to stroll in the town of Monastir and the pride of the city.

Buona sera Luciano,
An amazing pavement leading the eyes to the mausoleum situated on the far end.
DOF and clarity, light management and low POV - all culminate to a wonderful sight.
carlo62 (27898) 2014-07-08 11:26
siudzi (32475) 2014-07-08 11:35
What a superb concept for this shot! The low POV made a fantastic graphical view on this great place! Really amazing visual effect was achieved due to the very well managed perspective and depth. Like it!
besnard (52083) 2014-07-08 11:43

Beautiful and creative view on this icon, and thanks for your note, I would have thought this place were much older, as I associate this style of building with more ancient times. The low point of view is excellent, creating brilliant foreground interest, and a really cool sense of depth as the eye wanders through the shot to the destination of the main building. Colors are really great too, even from this distance, the gold shimmers.
Thanks as always

This is real hard work and tough thinking to get an incredible image like this. The mausoleum deep in the background with its pair of minarets look great only because you got the floors right.Great shot.Keep sharing.TFS.
ourania (26652) 2014-07-08 12:19
Complimenti e grazie!
Tanti saluti e buona serata,
PaulVDV (20551) 2014-07-08 12:41
In Portugal the streets, sidewalks and squares have wonderful patterns. But apparently also the Tunisians like this.
A very good idea to reserve so much space of the picture for the pavement.
Nowadays we don't hear much anymore about this country. Is it again much visited ?
Best regards, Paul

Ciao caro Luciano
Percio ti sei perso
Kamilutka (8095) 2014-07-08 17:48
interesting work and original POV to shoot from. The frog perspective added very much to this otherwise classic shot. I like the pattern of the cobbles and the way the alley leads an eye towards the mausoleum. Excellent quality in terms of the colors, sharpness and light management.
Thanks for sharing
pierrefonds (55036) 2014-07-08 19:01
jcpix (11478) 2014-07-08 20:20
Great to see you "back in action." :) You've returned with a super image, and one which is quite creative. As I'm sure most people would rush straight for the Mausoleum, you keenly recognized the opportunity for something original. Superb use of the repeating patterns and perspective! Even in the far distance we can clearly make out the focal point, but the majority of attention goes to this lovely pathway. Excellent idea and composition. Enjoy the new day. All the best.

Ciao Luciano, I was wondering what beach you chose this time. Tunisia again. Is it safe now?
I know this place and have made many photos of this pavement and also Mausoleum myself. Even if it beautiful, the idea of building himself and family such a mausoleum is horrid for me. As I have read, even Lenin, Ho Shi Minh and Mao wanted to be cremated and they were buried in mausoleum against their will. (haha, when I visit Moscow, I will be mausolea specialist :))
I liked much more this cemetery nearby.

SnapRJW (29308) 2014-07-09 1:30
Hello Luciano - The scalloped design in the pavement is beautifully exploited in your shot; the low POV was a great idea and to an extent amplifies the importance of the mausoleum as it looks so far away and has such an imposition pathway leading to it.
jhm (135396) 2014-07-09 5:03
What a lovely picture, very low taken, with the lovely street or entrance to the Mosque.
This gives nice perspective and depth picture.
Composition and presentation are pleasant to look at.
Very well done, TFS.
Sergiom (54801) 2014-07-09 5:52

danos (83177) 2014-07-09 7:24
great the panoramic view of the Bourguiba Family Mausoleum with the texture of the ground to adds depth and perpsective in the scene.I like the created optical effect as the excellent presentation of this landmark of Monastir.
holmertz (37231) 2014-07-09 8:21
This low POV makes the way to the mausoleum look VERY long and VERY hot on sunny days. The tiled patterns of the street are very nice but will not make walking all this way less hot. The lamp-posts provide good depth, right up to the minarets.
This is an original composition. Most people here would probably not have dared to do something like this.
bukitgolfb301 (34534) 2014-07-09 12:30
Hi Ciao dear Luciano, how are you?
So sorry for long no reply/action to you due to some reasons. Ya another stuuning image via great wide and low focus angle makes this landscape so impressive. Very very geometrical image too. Tasteful light and color management is also wonderful as usual.
We regret the result of FIFA 2014, right?
All the best and have a good day! Takero from Tokyo
jacquest (18205) 2014-07-09 13:24
macjake (52394) 2014-07-09 14:38
so you're off again! Back to Tunisia...you were here not too long ago wern't you?
are you back? or are you posting photo's during your trip?
really like this fun and creative compo.
works so well with the vanashing circles on the ground and the temple at the top.
cool shot, the compo worked out pretty well!!

The graphical effect of this pavement is simply breathtaking, excellent perspective ending with the mausoleum, perfectly well done
tyro (18676) 2014-07-10 0:24
Ciao caro Luciano,
You have made the very most of using a wide lens to exaggerate the perspective here and the effect is very appealing - the large expanse of the "piazza" (or whatever they call it in Tunisia) leads us perfectly to the impressive mausoleum in the distance with its tall minarets.
Gorgeous light and colours, perfect exposure and excellent details and sharpness.
A very interesting note too.
jmdias (52800) 2014-07-10 2:08
very nice use of the patterns in the ground, creating a very interesting visual effect. the view of the mausoleum ahead complete the whole beauty of the compo. nice job.

Very fine POV of the big square. I like the design of the pavement and your elegant presentation.
abmdsudi (39794) 2014-07-10 20:25
Excellent work, Love how the repeated patterns curve the way to the prominent in the backdrop, a superb symmetrical shot with more depth, rich in colour, adequate clarity and contrast. Well done, Tfs

Bonjour, cher Luciano,

Nice view of the Bourguiba Family Mausoleum with the texture of the ground .
Excellent depth and perspective, natural colors. Very effective composition. Pleasant scene.
adramad (35481) 2014-07-11 8:20
Superb perspective view of the Mausoleum, which we see in the distance, making this floor, giving relevance to the pavement, which gives a nice effect and a nice geometric graphics, with a good level of detail.
A colorful perfect very natural.
A bright image with optimum clarity.
Good job. I like it
Enjoy a good weekend.

amazing pattern, fine composition and shot from low POV. Also I like the symmetry. Well done photo and presentation this place.
Have a nice WE.
worldcitizen (6489) 2014-07-11 9:34
Great POV with excellent depth! I also like to play with these kinds of compositions, and you found the perfect combination of floor design and architecture to do it with. It does seem like an incredibly long walk, but I'm sure you did it without any trouble. :-) It's also nice that you added a bit of color with the items being sold on the right side of the frame.
eldancer1 (25300) 2014-07-11 10:12
I think they should have electric carts or Segway for lazy tourist like me who hates to walk. I like your pov showing the intricate design of the road. Good lighting and sharp details. Well done, tfs.

very original presentation of the mausoleum. I like very much the widely taken pavement with the repeated motif. It well leads the eye to the great structure in the very centre. Nice geometry, very creative,

Lavoro eccellente e interessante ben fatto, complimenti amico mio. Grazie per la condivisione.
Buona sera e felice inizio di settimana.
I migliori auguri da sud della Spagna.
Waylim (25086) 2014-07-13 18:47
Absolutely a very compelling image, while the churches is the important part of the subject but the low POV focusing on the stone floor with fish scale patter leading our vision into the church is just really fascinating and make it more unique than just the image of the church. It has so much depth. The lack of people and tourist give a more peaceful and quiet mood, I'm sure it would be so much going on other time of the day.
omid266 (3346) 2014-07-13 22:19

ChrisJ (94806) 2014-07-15 3:23
Love the repetitive patterns in the tiled piazza leading towards the distant mosque perfectly positioned over the vanishing point in the distance. Good sharpness and nice use of diminishing linear perspective with the 2 rows of street lamps either side. Tfs!
photographer_sg (3057) 2014-07-15 12:33
Another great composition with an original pov. The symmetrical framing and the repeated patterns of the walkway makes the distant mausoleum a perfect focal point. Excellent framing and composition.
Thanks for sharing and have a great day.

Bonsoir Luciano, Ciao,,
WoW!
tous mes complimenti...

I like the composition with the low POV. The road paved with that fish scale pattern leding to the mausoleum. It must be a strange feeling to built one's own burial place like a pharao.
NorthernLight (1515) 2014-07-19 14:05
this picture is very well done. You were using clever the structures of the plates to to get a large deep into the picture.
Beautiful colors, crisp sharpness and a very interesting place - really very well done!
Friendly greetings from Northern Europe
mcmtanyel (10639) 2014-07-22 21:12
Those patterns on the walkway are the eye-catching feature of this photo. Once one sees the full size photo, one gets to appreciate the perspective and the beauty of the mausoleum at the end of the walkway. Well seen and rendered.
PS. I think the seeming tilt on the photo you critiqued is due to lens distortion, I added a WS photo to it to explain.
fritzi007 (2846) 2014-07-23 7:10
beautiful cobblestone pattern, very good photo work, very good perspective, very good comment, and I was there too!
