Photographer's Note
The photo shows a capsized boat at Mjels Vig (Mjels Bay). Thousands of sailors regard the area of the Als Sound as a true sailing paradise and this small unspoiled bay is a personal tip among many sailors.
It seems that the (German) owner of the boat did not want to go through the hassle of properly winterizing his boat. So after last weekend’s storm he was in for a rude awakening when he tried to use the boat (that was not able to recover on its own) again.
This is not a pleasant sight. Since the boat is in a bad shape, the Danish owners of the small marina are afraid that this could be the beginning of a ship cemetery.

Hi Harriet,
Nice picture with a good note.
I like the reflections in the water. Probably you could have used the rule of thirds on this boat.

Regards.
Daniel.

Hi Harriet,
This looks like a very modern boat but even if this was the result of an accident, you really found a very good motive. The boat itself, together with its reflection, create a very modern kind of artwork. It is well placed in your picture. Looks like you had a very pleasant day here, without any winds. The water surface makes a perfect mirror.
Kinds regards

Hallo harriet,

Hello Harriet,
the sight of a capsized boat arouses concerns, its a very ackward sight which you've turned into a very interesting and well composed picture. The symmetrical effect created by the overturned hull has a fascinating effect, enhanced by its placement in the frame. There's superb depth and clarity in the photo and the lovely lighting and colours evoke nice, peaceful feelings that contrast the sadness of seeing the boat so helpless. But I wonder, could they recover it and elliminate the bad impression it makes for the marina? Your photo is great, well done and thank you!
All the best, have a great weekend,
Ourania

ciao Harriet,

Hi Harriet,
The water here is so calm and clear after storm. Sad view of this boat indeed, I can understand the concern of the owners of the marina.

Hello Dear Harriet,
A superb depiction of isolation and serenity, with the small capsized boat creating seen in a perfect mirrored reflection. While I might have increased the color saturation slightly, I think this is most appropriate in subdued light and colors. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family,
A few days ago a "flag counter" was integrated into the website, Can I impose on you to click and plant another German flag.

Hallo Harriet!

Hello Harriet,
A sad air to your note but a fine photograph to accompany it. If you look carefully at the upturned boat, with its reflection, it takes on the appearance of an open-mouthed fish.
You have used a good dof which focuses attention on the boat and produces an unobtrusive but useful b/g.
Have a lovely Easter Sunday,
Bev :-)

Ciao dear Harriet,
is always sad to see a boat in such poor condition, expecially considering how many people would like to own a boat like this. The only funny thing is the reflection of this poor boat, which looks like a smiling mouth. It's right to also document these scenes. Brava!
Ciao, have a nice week!

a soft and real baltic sea atmosphere: a flat landscape, very quietful, with the poor boat on FG.
Splendid reflection, very interesting note.

Hello Harriet,
It is sad to end his existence, denigrated and abandoned, as this boat died of boredom. The composition is most enjoyable. The picture is bright, clean and deep. excellent quality. Bravo.

Dear Harriet
Do you know that even before looking at your title, I said to myself "poor boat". Great minds think alike, eh? :)
The poor boat has indeed seen btter days, but you have captured it well, composing it nicely, with impressive sharpness and beautiful natural colours.
I hope this does not become a ship cemetery.

Hi Harriet
I like the effect you have created the fact that it does look like a quiet rather gloomy scene without any activity and the sad abandoned boat We can make out how the tide has battered causing her to tilt and beached off the bay. A well captured and thoughtful piece of photo journalism of current situation, the reality there, I particularly like your composition providing a much more visually interesting focus straight onto the main interest. Good tonal range and presentation with good detail. Fabulous reportage
iamge. Great work. Congrats
Best regards

I see you have indeed caught the reflection bug ! This is a superb rendition, in a pertect, still mirror.
But what a sad scene, and your sad tale only confirms it.
But its all about the photograph, and that is well composed, good proportions and nicely sharpened, without any extra colouring to spoil things.
Quality job !
kind regards

Hi Harriet
Thank you for visiting my gallery and posting a critique - much appreciated :)
Looking at the topsized boat, it strangely looks like its HDR, but i'm sure it isn't.
that blue on the underside is very attractive, it has a special look to it.
And as for the Ship Cemetery - I think that would be cool! for photo's anyways :)
