I took has been this picture Sunday afternoon during a bike trip together with my wife.
The picture is taken exactly on the border of the Netherlands, the farmer with tractor work on Belgian territory.
After the long winter we got almost no rain you can see the dust cloud behind the tractor, this gives a nice effect on these picture.
The church is old, during WAR II 1944 very heavy damaged
I wish everyone a nice new work week, dear TE members..
History from these small village:
Middelburg was originally a farming operation and possession of the Abbey of Middelburg. Circa 1427-1433 sold the abbey of Middelburg however Colard the Fever, a burgher of Bruges. Middelburg was sold after his death by his widow, Margaret Bladelin, to her brother Pieter Bladelin. This happened at least for 1444. In that year Bladelin wore after his lands and possessions in Middelburg on loan to the then Count of Flanders, Philip the Good. However, this elevation was only just the beginning of Bladelins plan: the development of a full new city. If Burgundian state official and confidant of the Duke (Bladelin was, after a short period of service of the city to have stood Bruges in 1441 general receiver of the Burgundian finance) he was in an excellent position to end the privileges required by his employer to obtain. The next step came in 1451. When obtained Bladelin of Philip the Good of the authorization in order to unify with the borrowing of Letters Aartrijke that Bladelin had purchased. The year before Middelburg Letters Aartrijke were called hereditary receipt. The loan holder of such loan was the Count of Flanders annually to pay a fixed amount. That amount should the loan holder to collect yourself first called to the grounds covered by the loan actually owned and edited. This unification was important because Bladelin as the (low) Middelburg acquired jurisdiction to which he previously did not already own. Middelburg was actually a simple loan was without jurisdiction, no glory. However, the recipient of the Letters Aartrijke owned or jurisdiction: if a shows a plot of land belonging to his only wanted to sell, it had to intervene herein.

Bonjour, cher ami John,

excellent view from field you captured.
snunney (79973) 2013-05-06 2:46
A pleasant rural scene beautifully captured under a good light. The tractor is ideally placed with the dust stream offering a pointer toward the church. I like the lighting very much and the excellent colours and sharpness.
Romano46 (16582) 2013-05-06 2:46
I miei complimenti!
CXiao e buona giornata
jacquest (18227) 2013-05-06 3:55
This is a very well done agricultural image with this old church in the background. The dust rising from the tractor gives the sense of movement. The light gives good natural colors and the sharpness is very good.
pierrefonds (55290) 2013-05-06 4:33
The wideness of the field is giving depth to the composition. You have captured well the action of the tractor plowing the field. The point of view is showing the details and the colours of the buildings. The good luminosity is enhancing the colours. Have a nice day.
Sergiom (55443) 2013-05-06 5:09

danos (83633) 2013-05-06 7:52
nice the view of the tractor as plough the fields at the borders of the two countries. The village on the backdrop enhnaced from the excellent light of the day, with the clarity to be superb.

What a live shot. The dust behind the tractor very well framed by you. Very well done.
ourania (27306) 2013-05-06 9:20
a very intriguing and original way to present this rural ladnscape and the farming activity taking place on it at the moment of the capture. I'm fascinated by your composition, the large space you have given to the luminous blue sky and how we have to get to the bottom third of the frame to discover a very rich, deep and interesting scenery. The lighting angle was very challenging but you've managed to have marvellous clarity as well as superb colour and texture definition on the landscape and its details. I like the effect of the dust cloud exalted by the sunlight but my favourite elements are the ploughed soil, the tractor and the spire. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great evening,

Very nice capture of this farmer working the land. The dust behind the tractor denotes action. Good lighting and dof with nice details. Well done, tfs.

holmertz (37765) 2013-05-06 11:54
This looks like a modern version of an old Flemish painting. The scenery could be the same, the colours and light the same, even the dust from the field could probably be seen in an old painting, it's just the tractor that makes the difference. I like the inclusion of so much sky. It gives a sense of freshness to the composition and the clear blue balances the dark brown very well.
rychem (20099) 2013-05-06 11:55
What I like is the warm light, beautiful view of this picturesque village, well done

A very interesting note about Middelburg and a very fine photograph in which we see the ploughed earth being raked or, as we call it, "harrowed" prior to planting.
The trail of dust left by the tractor and harrow is lit beautifully by the morning sun and makes a fine foreground feature in front of the little church with its little spire. Gorgeous soft colours, lovely light, perfect exposure and composition and exquisite details and sharpness.

Vele groeten, Paul

Superb photo. The well lit tractor is an excellent focal point of this photo. There is a great use of depth of field to hold the viewer in the foreground field with the tractor and dust as well as the church and houses in BG, and the excellent lighting conditions have allowed for very good color saturation. The overall impact is very strong.
Thanks for your comments to my photo, related to golf subject.
I've attached a link to my web-golf club section.
You can find there photos from many golf courses. Don't criticize the quality......this is rather a simple collection.

Very pleasing capture of rural Europe, a scene that can be seen all over the continent. It is good we still got the working farmers in our overindustialized countries. The tractor and the dust cloud it is provoking gives the picture some good life.
have a good day
PS. There are a few dust specks on your lens, especially visible in the sky, so maybe you should consider to give it a good clean.
raszid62 (18583) 2013-05-07 9:45
Spring beauty photography - time to prepare the field for spring sowing. In the background I see a very nice village church. Very nice composition of the painting in the beautiful colors and excellent quality.
Vasa (16742) 2013-05-07 15:44
The motif is so romantic and your division on 3+2 is perfect. Even without dramatic sky it is clear and optimistic look at the life in Flanders. So glad to meet you here John - I profit my short stay in Belgrade.

Good evening John,
The tractor and it's dust that had arisen behind, gave a fine dynamism to the image.
The brown furrows gave good clarity, houses and church on far side added depth.
Fine spring view, well collected.

It is nice to get a postcard from you. Yes, it is that time of the years when farmers in the northern hemisphere are busy plowing. I like the colors and light in this photo. Nice panoramic view of the field and a pretty village in the background. TFS.

Hello John - a nice rural scene from the Belgian/Dutch border. The dust behind the tractor is well-recorded; I hope more rain falls soon. The small village behind it all look wonderful in the low sun. Thanks!

That's a daily routine for some people.Clever look and awesome composition.Very nice details and colors.
clic (14352) 2013-05-09 6:16
I have been raised as a peasant on my father's lot, so I can easily appreciate the work done by this hearty farmer to "erease the wrinkles" of plowing before sowing.
The old village at backdrop adds a touch of romance to this nice piece of Mother Earth!
Urs (14082) 2013-05-09 6:58
What an impressive composition with this huge junk of prepared fields to plant paddy. Only the tractor in the BG and then the small settlement add colour hues to this shot.
kato (11630) 2013-05-09 8:13
This is a very beautiful photograph describing the countryside, so it's impressive to see firmland with rich soil which the farmer has cultivated using the tractor and farmhouses with red roof & church of backdrop. It's so pastotal spectacle in spring. The whole is harmonized and balanced well by the beautiful/bright color combination and good arrangement. And, the dust which arose when a tractor passed draws out a good impact in this image.
claudeD (30873) 2013-05-09 12:18
Very fine composition for this interesting rural landscape picture. Very good sharpness and colors. Very well done.TFS.

Angshu (54921) 2013-05-09 23:04
The dust trailed by the tractor does add to the beauty of the picture. I like the buildings in the BG and the work with layers, with the brown ploughed field and the blue sky separated by the skyline of the twon. Very nice picture!
ChrisJ (94842) 2013-05-10 2:53
Bonjour, cher ami John,
A well composed shot using the principle of thirds with 2/3 sky and 1/3 land. The tractor makes a good focal point. The dust cloud animates the scene. The bg church makes a fine secondary focal point and the warm earthen colors contrast well against the blue sky. Bon weekend!
Buin (42260) 2013-05-10 9:42
A beautiful rural scene you have caught here. All looks so calm and peaceful - yes, and beautiful. There's a wonderful atmosphere in this photo and the dispersed dust - enlightened by the sidelight - transmits the impression of work, of action.
Greetings from agaion cooler Westphalia! De "Ijsheiligen" have arrived ...

that was an awful winter indeed! But now the weather has changed and hopefully the farmer will be satisfied with the rain. But we all know that farmers are never satisfied with what they get!
This is an excellently composed impression of this characteristic landscape! You took a great advantage of this fantastic light. I also like your idea of the high sky.

Hi,love that finely detailed rural picture with such peaceful atmosphere. The world seems deceptively orderly here.Friendly regards,Wolf.
jcpix (11726) 2013-05-11 20:11
A very workmanship quality here, both industrial and execution...and both to be proud of! This is a great look of the seasons change, as well as the negative effect from a lack of moisture. Although it may be dry and barren, you've come up with a pleasant view and a nice part of the daily life aspect from the countryside. I must say, your bike rides really tend to pay dividends quite often, another great result. :) Thanks for sharing the view. Have a nice day ahead.
tedesse (25045) 2013-05-11 23:36
Wonderful rural landscape you showed! Good POV and DOF, nice composition of tillage in the foreground and in the background panorama of Middelburg. Beautiful colors and light, perfect sharpness.
Have a nice Sunday
krzychu30 (15344) 2013-05-12 4:07
at first sight it might be a common rural scene, but this warm and soft light make the scene really unforgettable.Excellently composed and executed image!I like the dust behind the tractor, which gives some kind of dynamic feeling to the scene.
After a long winter the farmer need to get to work now.
Have a nice sunday
rbassin (16472) 2013-05-12 11:52

Ciao John, very nice rural scene...with so good light and colors, excellent framing and details...maybe to much noise in the sky for the saturation ...best regards,
Waylim (25162) 2013-05-13 16:39
Very nice shot, fresh from the earth. As the farmer get ready for the planting season. Excellent details of the dust flying in the air. Beautiful spring light with warm sunshine.
branley (3681) 2013-05-14 5:58
It's a scene repeated throughout Europe at this time of year. Good depth in the shot John, for me the church is a little to central but it is offset by the tractor passing by in a cloud of dust, lovely colours too.
abmdsudi (40306) 2013-05-14 20:04
An amazing vast farm land, the details you've captured are amazing which include those historical buildings in the bdrop that work a treat. This has a feeling of solitude but the farm machine stands out serving as stong focal point and the dust & smoke highten the visual effect. Well timed shot, great colours and exposure. Fine shot, Congrats, TFS
maloutim (9629) 2013-05-15 18:32
Spring is here, it's time to plough and sow ! I expect the crops are starting to come out by now !
Great capture of this view, with a good depth of field, in both meanings :-)
I like the wide field in the foreground, with the tractor in the middle leaving dust behind, which gives a pleasant effect.
Then, the view of the small building at the back makes it a very picturesque view.
Thanks for sharing.
fabbs99 (16125) 2013-05-17 11:55
Great clarity in the shot. The background is distinct and sharp.True the dust behind the tractor raises a lot curiosity.A very well composed photo with great use of light. The deep depth of field is perfect.Well done.

Goede middag John,
weer zeer verzorgd.

This another village I can keep by its natural beauty in the countryside. I do admire the agriculture works and ever stop to contemplate the tractors. I never had the opportunity to work in vast properties. However remember the time I helped my father in small plots of land mainly watering them. It is curious that countries which have snow have a rich agriculture. In my country agriculture is badly supported by the government. Most people gave up working land. We import so much and it was not necessary. (I had the opportunity to visit some villages in Germany and land is not wasted. I have seen a couple plowing with two tractors). Nevertheless this village deserves to be photographed much more. Pictures that everlast in our computers documenting a very uncommon information. Warm regards. Domingos

That's a meaningful illustration of the " plat pays " that Jacques Brel affectionated singing.
A rich hystory included in a great land.

Brillant photo of ploughed land, supern colors

Hi John. A photo from the world of agricultural work - realistic and authentic. The trail of dust behind the tractor gives the picture life and movement. The distribution of the photo is very well done. A good counterweight to the field is the high heavens.
